I am finally watching an episode sorta kinda within the acceptable range? It was my last Satruday shift yesterday so now I have my full weekends free again.
Briar Blush went home in the previous episode, and Mia is happy to see her go, despite coming to an understanding with her while they were putting on their make-up before the runway in the previous episode. But with Briar now gone, who’s going to be the shit-stirrer? The queens also discuss Briar was faking it or not, and Jane is erring on the side of Briar actually fainted.
We then get the answer of who might be the shit-stirrer moving forward: Discord. To be fair, the judges’ critiques did sound confusing when you take it all in at the same time, but I think what they were saying is that while Ru loves her walk, it doesn’t fit the outfit that she made. And it really is drooping a bit like Michelle pointed out.
There is also ongoing discussion about who wore it better between Athena and Darlene, and I am on the Darlene side of this argument. I liked it more than I liked Athena’s!
Discord is ~bright and shiny~ the next day as they enter the Werk Room, and this just signals to me that she’s going home next. That’s always the sign. If she’s not going home next, she’s probably going to be lip syncing at least. Don’t set yourself up for this bottom placement, Discord!
Ru enters the Werk Room and tells the queens that it’s the Rate A Queen talent competition this week and next week, and Jane is understandably worried because she is the frontrunner as of now. The queens also get to decide who performs this week and next week, as well as the order of performances. It’s a recipe for drama, and if Briar was still here, one can only imagine how much more dramatic this could possibly be.
As last week’s challenge winner, Vita gets to pick which week she’s going to perform, but we’ll have to find out about that later on because Myki is telling Jane to her face that it would be convenient to put her in the bottom since she’s the frontrunner. And then the shade of putting the camera on Juicy when Jane says she’s now going to be judged by “bitches from Florida who can’t read.”
We get to hear a little bit about the performances that the queens are going to do for the talent show, but I’m not really listening as closely as I would because there have been moments when the queens have described what they’re going to do and then you get something that while not different, isn’t exactly what the queen said either. Am typing this pretty late at night, okay, and I’m really sleepy, so apologies if this doesn’t quite make sense.
It is interesting to hear the queens scheming about the Rate A Queen, though. I think they’re introducing this midway through the season precisely so the queens could scheme like they’re doing now. They’re chasing that Traitors viewership or something.
After discussing their uncertain alliances, the queens pick the week where they’re going to perform. Myki takes week two when see sees that most of the week one queens are dancers,
Nini, Vita, Mia, Juicy, Darlene and Ciara all pick week one…initially, but Nini is having second thoughts about it. She eventually settles on week one, but only because she misunderstood the alliance she made with her girl group members. I hope this doesn’t backfire on her or the rest of the queens?
With the order settled, the queens start talking about their talent show and Jane is feeling pretty anxious for Ciara Myst’s poetry performance, because it’s not the usual song and dance routine and Jane still has ~residual trauma~ from her drag family member Irene the Alien’s glass of water performance. And I kinda am worried for Ciara too, because I think only Mariah and Tatiana have successfully done spoken word?
Before the queens get to perform their numbers, they need to walk the “Not Today, Satin”-themed runway and I don’t know why Kandy Muse didn’t like the runway? Or maybe that was a shitpost from Twitter and I got fooled? I hate Twitter. Anyway, I liked Juicy, Mia, and Myki.
Ciara is first up for the talent show and…it was okay. Not a “Same Parts” though. And it looks especially boring after we see Juicy’s performance. She did eat that up. Those things she does with her legs while she flips? I don’t know the technical terms but it looked so good. All the queens going after Juicy better bring their A game.
And you know what? I did not expect Nini Coco to do a round off back handspring! I do wish it was just a tiny bit longer? I dunno, it felt like it was missing something. But it was better than Vita’s, at least. Darlene’s….I dunno. There was something missing. Or maybe it’s just Juicy was just so jaw-dropping that everyone now just looks like they’re lacking. And it kinda makes sense that it’s Mia that matches Juicy’s energy since they are drag family-related after all.
Also this is just for me but Zara Larsson and I both have the same opinions on Nini’s talent show so we’re absolutely best friends now. Actually, we’ve been best friends since her beautiful collab with BTS for the BTS World soundtrack.
Nini, Vita, and Darlene emerge as the safe queens after the other queens vote, while Ciara ends up in the bottom, unfortunately. Now we get to see Juicy and Mia go up against each other and I really liked how you could see the difference in their styles? Like I’m not a dance expert or anything of the sort but it was very clear that they approached the lip sync in different but equally skillful ways. And it’s no surprise that they both win!
If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
