Ron Watches RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World Season 3 Episode 2

Nobody went home in the first episode, and we’re definitely getting an elimination this time around because Mama Ru said so. Let’s get into it!

Of course, Fontana is having the time of her life having won the first episode of the season. Not having the time of their lives is Melinda and Mariah, who Sminty just named as the bottom two of the previous episode, if there was a bottom two. At least the two of them outwardly seem like they’ve processed it already, and Melinda even says that even she wasn’t happy with her performance.

With Fontana and Gawdland the current frontrunners, the UK alliance is looking at them and have dropped the possible alliance with Mariah that they discussed in the first episode. Whether Gawdland actually joins their alliance remains to be seen, because she may not have been fond of how Sminty told her she looks like a kid overwhelmed at Disneyland.

Back in the Werk Room the next day, Ru tells the queens that they’re going to be Ru-mixing their past looks for this week’s Maxi Challenge, which is sorta kinda like the mash-up Maxi Challenge from episode four of the current RuPaul’s Drag Race season. At least in my head it does. ANYWAYS. The twist is they can’t Ru-mix their old outfits, and have to do it with one of the other queens’ outfits.

The choosing of outfits goes pretty normally until it gets to Minty Fresh, the last queen who gets to choose. Ru suddenly drops the bomb that she can steal a look from another queen to Ru-mix rather than Fontana’s, which was the last outfit remaining. She steal’s Sminty’s look from Gawdland, leaving Gawdland with Fontana’s skimpy look.

As the queens start working on their looks, The Only Naomy is immediately marked for a bottom placement because she’s already talking about how she’s going to ~act~ like a seamstress even though she’s not. Melinda is also bound for the bottom because she’s brought up her fashion school background and production likes nothing more than to humble a queen. Minty is also a target after bringing up that she won the design challenge during her Drag Race Philippines season. Also, it’s so funny how Ru didn’t even recalls Sminty being in the top of the design challenge during her season despite being present during that season. Ru also mentions that they need to make a Rudemption look from one of their past outfits, so no biggie. Nothing to stress over.

As the queens continue to work on their outfits, we get to find out that Melinda Verga’s name is actually a Spanish pun meaning ~my pretty cock~. The things you learn! And for some reason that tidbit made me think of Boy Is A Bottom.

As the queens prepare for the runway the following day, the three Filipino queens get highlighted and I’m just so scared because that usually means that queen gets sent home. To have three of them get a chance to share more about themselves? Just means they’re going to go home in quick succession.

Fontana also gets to talk about LGBTQIA+ life in Brazil, and the contrast with the amount of hate crimes there to Brazil’s outward image of being progressive on LGBTQIA+ issues was something I didn’t know about either. It is so morbidly fascinating to me that Brazil has two sides that are so opposite of each other.

The runway starts and while Serena does upgrade her original look, I feel like it’s not much better? I did love The Only Naomy’s Rudemption look of her look from her original season, as well as Minty Fresh’s.

Up next is the Rumix looks, and I think Gawdland makes for a strong start, especially since she stomped on that runway really bringing the punk vibe. And then Sminty walks up next with an equally strong look and I’m really impressed. Serena’s look, though, quickly brings the average down. I did not like it. Unfortunately, Melinda’s look isn’t any better. Where was the ombre? And The Only Naomy just continues the downward trend. Kate’s and Minty’s looks arne’t any better either. I feel like only Gawdland, Sminty, and Mariah really brought it!

After the runway, Ru announces the Chippy Tea, which allows the winning queen to save one of the bottom three queens. Is this going to be a regular thing or is it just going to be a one episode thing like the Lucky Cow from episode two of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 7? We’ll see.

Sminty, Serena, Kate, and Zahirah are this week’s safe queens. Melinda is definitely going to be in the bottom because both her looks got a mixed response, and I think deservedly so. The Only Naomy and Minty also gets mixed critiques, which I think were also deserved. Sorry!

The bottom three queens have to plead their case to Gawdland, which I did not expect because I thought that Gawdland would have to make her decision immediately. Which really is a silly thing to think, now that I’m watching them talk in Untucked. Minty really gets in there with the appeal to SEAsterhood, which Melinda didn’t think to do. The Only Naomy appeals with the fact that they’re closer in age. I think SEAsterhood is going to win, just saying.

Minty is saved, and The Only Naomy and Melinda Verga are battling it out. And can I say that both of them should have gone home? I don’t think neither of those performances were good! It’s The Only Naomy that gets to stay anyway.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
