It’s the finale! And yes, I am a couple of days late, but I am ancient, you guys. Work was a little hectic, and my body just could not. But I’m here now!
At the end of the previous episode, we saw Jay face the Other Coroner, who, along with Fai, was planning to blow up the house where they were holding Champ and Cherreen. We know they’re not going to succeed, of course, but how will they fail?
We find out that Fai and Other Coroner connected when Other Coroner saved her from killing herself. We also find out that Fai bought the house where they’re all at right now. Where’d she get the money? It’s a pretty big house! Fai also reveals how she was dragged into this friend group, and you know what? Maybe Fai is justified in killing them one by one. I support women’s rights and women’s wrongs!
The show tries a ~cliffhanger~ by not showing us whether Jay gets shot or not, but you know what? He can die too! I thought he was an ass in the earlier episodes, and I don’t mind him dying!
Before we find out Jay’s fate, we see how Champ and Cherreen react when they find out that Fai is still alive. Just like Jay, they all say that killing them is too much, but again? No, I think it’s a fair exchange! Fai got sexually assaulted, was made to get an abortion, and almost died from that abortion. And no one in the friend group cared! Kill them all!
OH WAIT JAY DID GET SHOT. So what we were watching wasn’t a flashback; it’s happening after the shooting. Other Coroner is a stupid shot, though, because Kamin arrives at a still-breathing Jay. Should have shot Jay in the head!
Inside the house, Fai’s asked Champ and Cherreen to see who gets to live this time around, and Cherreen is still a stupid bitch who doesn’t realize that Champ only thinks about himself. And Other Coroner and Fai are even gracious by shooting Champ in the shoulder so the fight between him and Cherreen is sorta fair.
Kamin enters the house while all of that is happening upstairs, and Other Coroner goes down to check. Jade’s also shown up at this point, magically, and they’re both hiding from Other Coroner. Upstaris, Cherreen continues to be a dumb bitch and is asking Champ to stop, which of course he doesn’t do.
Kamin and Jade split up, with Jade handling Other Coroner and Kamin facing Fai, but only after he shoots Cherreen in the shoulder first. Which maybe he shouldn’t have done, because now Champ has the upper hand. Since he’s an asshole, Champ takes advantage and kills Cherreen. You should have stabbed him when you had the chance, Cherreen!
Elsewhere in the house, the Other Coroner is making Jade choose. Should he save his brother or Kamin? Frankly, you should let your brother die, Jade, because he’s been an asshole, but that’s just me. Despite his brother being an asshole, Jay ~saves~ him and Kamin, or at least he says he does. Don’t really see how at the moment, but let’s trust the process. Other Coroner gets lit on fire, but looks very calm about it. The CGI flames don’t look very real, after all.
And the CGI flames continue their reign of terror as the house sorta explodes? It’s giving SEAbling energy because I’ve seen these same effects on multiple Filipino shows. Proud ~Global South~ residents, baby! But before that explosion happens, Champ manages to stab Fai. One final indignity bestowed on that poor girl. Does Champ get away with everything?
Apparently, he’s not going to get away with it! Other Coroner is in the hospital because of third-degree burns, while Champ’s nerves are dead. According to Jade, even if both of them live, they’re still going to jail. Won’t Champ’s dad intercede? Jay’s in the hospital because of the gunshot, and I’m assuming he’s not going to jail. Meanwhile, Thai homos Jade and Kamin are going to go on a vacation.
And that vacation involves Yu and Lee? Turns out they helped smooth things with the commander, so Kamin doesn’t have to leave the force and go back abroad. Fair, but how are Jade and Kamin going to get some loving in with other people in the house? We’ve still got 20 or so minutes!
Well, I maybe shouldn’t have been surprised that we get cute things. And since the vacation is at a beach, we get Jade and Kamin shirtless. Because of course. We also get Kamin thanking Jade for coming in him into his life, and while it’s cute and all, it feels more like telling than showing. They also thank each other for making their lives better, and while the show did…uh…show how different they were from each other at the start, their lives didn’t necessarily look like it was a mess. But I guess that was sacrificed in the adaptation, because this is based on a book. Either way, we get a happy-for-now ending, with an epilogue that hints that it’s going to be a happy-ever-after. Yay!
All in all, I thought this was an okay show. I’ve only seen one episode of The Heart Killers so I don’t know if Joong and Dunk are better here than they are there, but I do have to say that their chemistry in person isn’t conveyed as well in this show. Not that they didn’t have chemistry here, but when I interviewed them, the two of them were just electric with each other. Is this my favorite Thai BL of all time? No. But I wouldn’t be afraid to recommend it to other people either.
If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
