Fourth week in a row where I’m sort of on time with this! Let’s go!
Mia went home in the previous episode, and let me tell you, I did not expect that to happen. I thought it would be Kenya going home! But what’s done is done. Kenya, Athena, and Juicy are torn up about it, but a well-placed joke from Nini lifts spirits up.
The talk then moves to Juicy, who reveals that she’s been recovering from drug addiction, and does agree with Ru that she has lost herself for a while and can’t Ruveal who she is. And it really is moving to see Juicy talk about this and how Athena did her best to help her out. I hope she manages to convey this on the stage.
The queens then tally up the wins, with Juicy and Nini at the front with two wins. Myki, Athena, and Jane, with one win, and Kenya, Darlene, and Discord with no wins. If that’s not foreshadowing who’s going home next, I don’t know what is.
The nexy day in the Werk Room, the queens talk about the departed queens who they are surprised aren’t here anymore, and of course, Vita’s name comes up. However, before any other name comes up, Ru walks into the Werk Room and we get a mini challenge! It’s that “Who is the ___” game we’ve had over multiple Drag Race franchises. It gets spicy when Ru asks who’s going home next, and the top choice is Kenya, with Discord second. AGAIN. If that doesn’t scream foreshadowing! Discord and Kenya win the mini challenge, and while it doesn’t give them an advantage in the Maxi Challenge — a Rusical based on Annie, they do get a cash prize.
The queens get to decide on which roles they’ll take, and Discord is already stressing about the Rusical, because it’s the one challenge she’s been anxious about. FORESHADOWING. But we might just get a surprise, as Myki has brought up her theater background to campaign for the role of Fannie, which is, of course, a sign to the producers to humble her. But then Nini also wants the role of Fannie, so an audition is held, and Nini gets humbled, because everyone wants Myki for the role. I, on the other hand, was cackling.
But Nini really doesn’t want that Big Peppa part and tries to go after Athena’s part, and you know damn well that Athena isn’t going to give up that part. Myki tries to be the bigger person and gives up the role of Fannie for Nini, who then starts to get anxious and now I don’t know if production is setting up Nini for a win or to sashay away. After all that drama, Nini gets Big Peppa, the part that she didn’t want, after she realizes that the anxiety she’s feeling after Myki hands her the Fannie role might just be the sign that she’s not ready to be the lead.
During the recording session, Kenya sounds good! She may just get to be in yet another episode! Jane also looks like she’s going to be in the top again this week, and Myki is singing. Damn. Just from the vocals, it looks like it’s going to be between Jane and Myki. Discord didn’t get a mention at all, which just tells me that she’s going to be in the bottom this week. And if the choreography lesson that follows is any indication, Discord might be battling it out against Athena. Maybe even Nini.
The Rusical starts and…it’s good! And it does genuinely look like everyone did well! And it really does look like it’s going to be between Jane and Myki for the top spot. We then get the Beige Against the Machine runway and I thought the runways were great as well, with Juicy being a particular highlight for me.
Darlene and Nini are safe, and Ru tells the girls that the judges were splitting hairs because everyone was so wonderful this week. And I agree! I thought the Rusical was fun this year! And from the critiques, it looks like it’s going to be Juicy versus Athena? I guess the Dion dynasty’s being punished for Rate A Queen!
Jane wins! Oh, I can’t wait for next week. Is Myki going to crash out? But then Juicy and Athena are announced as the bottom two and bitch. I thought it wasn’t going to be an emotional lip sync, until Athena asked Juicy to sit on her knee and Juicy started to cry and I started to tear up. I really thought that Ru was going to send nobody home, but she’s ruthless and sends Athena home. Which I think is correct, I thought Juicy won that lip sync, but damn, did you have to break their hearts like this?
If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
