Ron Watches The Boyfriend Season 2 Episode 8

William and Izaya finally got together in the previous episode, but the biggest thing for me was the return of Taeheon from the first season. Let’s see what his return brings to the Green Room!

This episode’s opening already has me cackling because Izaya and William are being lovey-dovey right in front of Jobu’s salad omurice. I think it’s omurice? Also, the cruelty of Jobu being able to roll his R’s, but William choosing Izaya who can’t. I’m telling you all, I’m cackling.

The next day, Huwei is named shift lead, while Izaya will be unable to join as he has some remote work to accomplish. Of course, he picks Bomi, who is apparently growing a beard now. It may not be for long, though, as Huwei bluntly says that he doesn’t like it. Maybe that’s why Hiroya never had a chance! Meanwhile, another that never had a chance was today’s earnings, because they only made ¥2,700. Appaling.

Back at the Green Room, William is looking at the pictures of Izaya in his gallery, and it’s so cute. We also get a little tease of Taeheon making his return, but soon enough we go back to Bomi and Huwei, with Huwei expressing that he’s a little anxious at the thought of being Bomi’s first. He wants to take things slow, which is totally fine.

While all that is happening, Jobu, William, Kazuyuki, and Ryuki go out for some ice fishing, not knowing that Taeheon has made his way back to the Green Room. I think Izaya’s the only one left there? BUT TURNS OUT IT’S NOT TAEHEON. It’s a new guy named Tomoaki, who’s 31 years old and also works in IT. AND THEN TAEHEON ARRIVES. Jobu is erect.

Opening credits time!

Jobu is like a schoolgirl as they prepare dinner, with Taeheon in the kitchen so close to him. He is having panic attack! But as cute as that was, what really caught my attention was Tomoaki’s reason for going to the Green Room. He used to be overweight and lost those excess pounds. He’s learned to love his body, but now he’s on a journey to accept his sexuality. Damn. I hope this show ends well for him, even if he ends up without a partner. As Mama Ru says, if he can’t love himself, how the hell is he going to love somebody else?

All that said, I don’t think the letter-writing activity is the best thing to do at the moment, considering how much Tomoaki is grappling with his sexuality. What if he doesn’t get a letter? Taeheon is for sure getting one from Jobu. It’s unclear if Tomoaki is going to receive any.

William and Izaya send each other letters, as do Huwei and Bomi. Fellow old person Kazuyuki didn’t get anything, just like the last time, which is just how it is in the gay world. You reach a certain age, and then you diminish and go into the West. At least, Ryuki didn’t get anything either.

Meanwhile, Jobu gets letters from Kazuyuki and Tomoaki. He was hoping to get a letter from Taeheon, but Taeheon wrote to Tomoaki. Taeheon got letters from Ryuki and Jobu, but the Jobu letter really isn’t a surprise. Ryuki, though, really likes them older. Which, again, is also a thing in the gay world.

The next scene we see is Huwei and Kazuyuki in the gym, with Kazuyuki admitting that he probably won’t be starting anything with the guys in this house anytime soon. Now, he’s just planning to use the rest of his time in the Green Room to look back on his 15-year relationship.

The next day, Taeheon is named shift lead for the coffee truck, but this time around, people can volunteer to work with him. Of course, Jobu volunteers, but Kazuyuki, Huwei, and Bomi also volunteer. Taeheon’s never been more popular! Taeheon picks Huwei and JOBU’S FACE. I AM CACKLING ONCE MORE.

We get a little explainer from Bomi about why he volunteered. Jobu told him that Taeheon seems to like big guys, because he sent a letter to Usak back in season one. Bomi volunteered just to keep Taeheon’s eyes away from Huwei, but come on. It’s hard not to see Huwei.

Taeheon and Huwei take on their shift and earn ¥3,850, while back in the Green Room, Izaya is literally planning out the next five years of his and William’s lives. There’s even talk of marriage! Damn. William’s being realistic and saying that maybe moving to Spain might be a bit of an adjustment for Izaya, but Izaya is ready to take on the challenge. He really wants William‘s huge dick. However, he does pick up on the fact that when William talks about the future, it doesn’t necessarily include him, which leaves him unsettled. Maybe this is where the toxicity that people online are talking about will come in.

During dinner, Jobu tries to ingratiate himself with Taeheon by taking a selfie with him, and then gets another opportunity to do so when it’s announced that one-on-one dates are on the line, so long as the feelings are reciprocated. The next day, we find out that the pairs are William and Izaya, Huwei and Bomi, and that’s all. JOBU WITH NO MATCH YET AGAIN I AM CACKLING.

For the first time ever in Drag Race herstory, we find out who the other guys picked. Taeheon picked Huwei, while Ryuki, Kazuyuki, and Jobu picked Taeheon. Meanwhile, Tomoaki picked Jobu. Again, Taeheon has never been more popular!

During their date, Huwei admits to Bomi that he’s beginning to find him cute, and it also doesn’t escape me that Bomi has shaved, and Huwei is staring. They really are so cute together.

Back at the Green Room, Jobu is continuing his campaign for Taeheon’s attention. Or at least, I thought it was just the two of them outside, but it turns out Kazuyuki, Ryuki, and Tomoaki were also there. Taeheon continues to be the wise sage like he was in the first season, which I’m sure is just making him even more attractive to Jobu, Ryuki, and Kazuyuki.

While Huwei and Bomi had a cute coffee shop date, William and Izaya are at a fancy place with a spectacular view. I wish I had that view. Izaya brings up the five-year plan again, and William rebuffs him again, saying he just wants to think about the near future for now. Is that a good thing or a bad thing for Izaya? We don’t know just yet.

Back to Bomi and Huwei, turns out the coffee shop was just the start of the date, because they’re now being cute on a boat. So cute! And it really does look that Huwei is really starting to fall for Bomi.

The next day, we find out that Bomi got sick from the date. Not because Huwei railed him to within an inch of his life, but because of the cold conditions that probably led him to get a fever or something. AND THEN HUWEI MAKES HIM CREMÈ CARAMEL FOR THEM TO EAT TOGETHER. OH BOMI SPREAD THOSE LEGS AND LET HUWEI IN.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
