Ron Watches The Boyfriend Season 2 Episode 10

Izaya got dicked down in the previous episode, or at least that’s what I think happened. Is he going to be limping in this episode? Let’s find out!

We find William and Izaya in their underwear the next day. William’s bright and eager, maybe because his hole didn’t get wrecked. They have a breakfast of scrambled eggs, salmon, and rice, which I’m kinda envious of right now. It looks delicious! They have oranges and kiwis as well. The two of them talk about how this was different from the last time they had sex three years ago, and I say good for them!

Back in the Green Room, the guys are wondering what William and Izaya did last night, WHEN IT’S PRETTY CLEAR THAT THEY KNOW THEY FUCKED. Like, come on, guys. Let’s not pretend that you aren’t wise to the ways of the world. William and Izaya then walk back into the Green Room, and they have the smiles of the freshly fucked on their faces. With the group mostly complete in the Green Room, Huwei announces that he’ll be leaving for a bit for his university entrance ceremony. The show then does little edit thing where we see Huwei leaving and then Hiroya arriving. Pretty neat!

Opening credits time!

Once Hiroya’s back in the Green Room, welcomes are made, and introductions are had between him, Taeheon, and Tomoaki. Quite predictably, Taeheon immediately draws Hiroya’s attention. Can’t blame him!

The next day, Kazuyuki asks the group, while they’re all waiting for the coffee truck message, if they’re okay with him leaving to really think about his previous 15-year relationship. Of course, they’re fine with it. It would be an absolute dick move if one of them just got in the way of Kazuyuki’s personal growth. Taeheon also took himself out of coffee truck shift duty because of work commitments.

After all of that’s sorted out, the guys finally get told that Ryuki’s the shift lead this time around, and he gets to choose who he works with. He picks Jobu, which I would say was unexpected if it weren’t for the fact that Ryuki hasn’t interacted with a lot of the guys, so his picking anyone would have been a surprise.

The two of them get hit on by middle-aged ladies during their shift, and they finish it with ¥3,950 in sales. Respectable, I guess, if we’re comparing it with previous shifts.

Elsewhere, Kazuyuki is journaling in different locations, recalling moments from his previous relationship, and it’s really obvious that he isn’t over it yet. The panel points out that it’s really up to the residents of the Green Room what they want to do with their two months on the show, and I think that’s a good direction for the show to take in future seasons. Let’s not make it a strictly dating show, but more of a retreat where Japanese LGBTQIA+ people can collect their thoughts. I’d like that!

Back to Ryuki and Jobu, Ryuki asks about coming out, since it’s something that really scares him. Jobu asks him why he wants to come out, and he says it’s to be accepted by his father, who raised him by himself after his mother died when he was in kindergarten. It wouldn’t be so hard if he still had both parents, because one of them could still accept him, and he’d still have a family. But if his father rejects him? I fully understand why Ryuki’s so hesitant and is almost crying. Jobu tells him to ask everyone else in the Green Room for advice, because coming out is different for everyone.

Back at the Green Room, the guys are talking about Kazuyuki, and how he has to force himself to be alone to confront his past relationship. A 15-year relationship is not an experience most of them have had, and I think not a lot of gay guys have had that, at least for the younger generations. It’s also nice to see Tomoaki settling in, as the panel has pointed out.

While all of that is happening in the Green Room, Huwei is in Tokyo at Omotesando, celebrating his enrolment with his girl friends. Of course, the girls wanna see Bomi after Huwei says he’s interested in him, and I think they give pretty sound advice when it comes to Huwei’s hesitations about getting together with Bomi. Huwei wonders if the two of them can focus on each other, but as one of the girls correctly points out, he’s never going to find out if the two of them don’t get together. And that girl saying all of Bomi’s firsts will be Huwei’s? Oh, she knew what she was doing.

The next day, Ryuki is also out of the house to go to school, since he is only 20. There are idols older than he is! Izaya is also named the shift leader, and is anybody really surprised that he picks William? It would have been more surprising if he picked Hiroya.

At the start of their shift, William and Izaya take this half-and-half Polaroid photo and ugh. These faggots queens.

Seriously, these two are so disgustingly cute and couple-y, I can’t take it. They do make ¥4,000, which is better than Jobu and Ryuki’s sales during their shift.

Back at the Green Room, Hiroya, Jobu, and Bomi are queening out about Taeheon. Jobu is recalling his own awkward experience with Taeheon back in episode nine, but then apparently, Taeheon sat behind him at one point, on a seat that definitely only seats one. Jobu is confused, and I don’t blame him. I’d be asking Taeheon “What are we?” as well! Taeheon is sending mixed signals, but Jobu is going to shoot his shot anyway.

Now it’s Bomi’s turn to talk about what happened before Hiroya’s return, and the shade of telling Hiroya to his face that he’s going to say everything. But he doesn’t, because in the confessional he admits to dreaming about Huwei. This boy is in love.

Back to William and Izaya, the season’s first couple is at some fancy restaurant after their coffee truck shift, and William is upfront about how meeting his parents might be difficult, as being a homo isn’t what they envisioned for their son. But it was so sweet for him to tell Izaya that he feels like if the two of them are together, it’s going to be alright. Again, I don’t get the hate for this couple!

The next day, the guys talk about how Kazuyuki hasn’t been in the Green Room, and wonder when he’ll be back. Which, of course, means he walks in and makes his return. But he’s not the only one back! Huwei also walks in with a gift. For Bomi, maybe? It’s all of the guys together for the first time in a while, but then Izaya says he needs alone time with William, so they’re incomplete once more. And it looks like William doesn’t know what this is about either!

In the kitchen, Huwei and Bomi waste no time getting back into the swing of things, flirting with each other while they’re cooking. These faggots queens.

We then find out where Izaya’s talking William — back to Lake Mashu. And without the fog? Lake Mashu is absolutely beautiful. I don’t blame William for getting teary-eyed and looking at Izaya like he’s the best thing ever, and I totally understand when he agrees to leave the Green Room with Izaya. They’re already sure about each other! No need to stick around for much longer.

The two of them go back to the Green Room and surprise the guys with their announcement, which leads to a tearful goodbye with everyone. But what are you gonna do? If it’s right, it’s right, and the two of them think it’s time to leave.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
