Ron Watches RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 18 Episode 11

Back to watching this at a sorta respectable time! Let’s get into it!

Nobody went home in the previous episode, so does that mean that two people are going home this time around? I don’t know just yet, but the rest of you who’ve watched this episode ahead of me probably do. But for now, what I get to see first is the fallout of nobody going home.

And the fallout is mainly the queens complaining that there are still seven of them, with the queens zeroing in on Discord, understandably. Discord says it sucks that everyone said her name, but Iman said that she should be a designer, so that’s that. None of the queens are going to shake her.

The queens then congratulate Jane, the current frontrunner. Jane is feeling confident, for a change. Kenya is also feeling confident after landing in the top two of this design challenge, jokes that she’s going to piss in Jane’s contact lens solution to hobble her. Nini joins in with a Nancy Kerrigan joke, and what Jane worried about earlier in the season is finally coming true. There is a target on her back.

The next day, Nini brings up a valid point: What if a double elimination is coming down the pike? However, the other queens don’t get to digest that as Ru enters the Werk Room to tell them that they’re going to have a Scentbird-sponsored mini challenge, where they basically make content for the brand. And, well, slim pickings! I thought Myki did the best, and so does Ru.

After that mini challenge, the queens are told that they’re going to roast RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars winner Alyssa Edwards for the Main Challenge, with coaching from Michelle Visage and Atsuko Okatsuka. Meanwhile, Myki is determining the roast order since she won the mini challenge.

But before we do that, take a look at the pictures I took from the Eva Le Queen viewing party for RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars!

Now, I don’t know if this happened to anybody else, but at this point, the audio of the episode doesn’t match the video. It’s a little distracting, but I can still understand. Mostly. Darlene’s never done a roast before, so she’s going to just write what she thinks is funny and hope for the best.

The session with Michelle and Atsuko is done as a table read, so everybody gets to hear everybody’s critiques, and also learn about their order as well. Discord is up first, and from the table read, it looks like she’ll do okay. Jane’s up next and gets good critiques as well. But just when you thought everybody’s brought their A game, Juicy goes up to bat and…well, she’ll be in the bottom again. Darlene and Nini both also seem like they’re going to have a difficult time during the challenge, while Kenya and Myki look like they’d do well, more Kenya than Myki.

Myki’s rattled by the critiques from Michelle and Atsuko that she rewrites her whole roast, which could mean that she’s the one in the bottom this episode, alongside Juicy or Darlene. Darlene is hoping that her unconventional roasting technique gets her past this challenge, but as she said herself, something different isn’t always appreciated.

Meanwhile, Jane is, unironically, being a good person by checking in on Nini, who’s stressing over the fact that she can’t read a room. Jane gives her helpful advice and also admits that she and the queens need to be more sensitive about how they respond when Nini comes in hot. I also think that maybe Nini is on the neurodivergent side, but I am a neurotypical person and also not a doctor, so don’t quote me on this.

Alyssa is called in so the roast can start, and that gown? Gorgeous. That wig? Sickening. I can’t stop looking at it. The roast starts, and Discord…changed some of her jokes, and they’re not as funny. I also think that her spilling that wine really threw her off. Jane does better, but I thought she would do better, if that makes sense? Fortunately for her, but unfortunately for Juicy, Juicy is up next and Juicy bombs. Darlene doesn’t quite roast, but is so unhinged that everyone laughs anyway.

Nini…well. Let’s say there were highs and lows. Kenya, unlike during the table read, performs horribly, so it’s going to be her and Juicy in the bottom. You can tell just from those two’s roasts. Myki does well, and even brings out her Snatch Gamer Drew Barrymore.

We then proceed with the “Swept Away” runway theme for this episode, and the looks I liked are Myki and Nini. I thought Nini made really great use of that fan. From the critiques, it really does look like Juicy and Kenya are going to be in the bottom, while the top placement is a little more up in the air.

Once the queens return to the runway, Darlene is declared the winner, her first win! Meanwhile, as has been telegraphed, Juicy and Kenya are in the bottom. The two of them lip sync to “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, and Juicy’s outfit works so well, especially with the fans blowing. She sends another queen home.
