Now that my work has eased up, I can now catch up on the rest of the season. I know I won’t catch up since the last three episodes are airing this Tuesday, so all I’m doing now is just trying to watch the whole thing in the next two weeks. Wish me luck!
At the end of the previous episode, we found out even more about Izaya and William, which is that they had two very different recollections about their time together. Izaya had a more rose-colored view of their past, while William barely remembers anything at all. He’s got a bad memory because all his blood is flowing to his huge cock.
We start off with Jobu getting salsal salsa lessons from William, and it does not bode well for Jobu that he’s so stiff. Loosen up! But we move past that now as the guys get a message telling them that Huwei will be the shift lead picking his partner this time around. I’m sure Bomi is vibrating at an atomic level right now, and the disappointment in his eyes when Huwei picks Izaya? Delicious. Somewhere, a fan is making an edit out of this.
Opening credits time!
After Huwei makes his choice, the rejected men Bomi and William have a little discussion in some corner of the house. Bomi says he was a little hurt, thinking that he would be picked since he picked Huwei for the previous shift. He does take comfort in the fact that he told Huwei that his hair looks sexy pushed back and Huwei did push his hair back.
Huwei and Izaya end their shift with just ¥5,100 and I am very disappointed. Come on guys, put your backs into it! Pick a better location! If Usak was with you during this season, you’d run out of money just from his chicken smoothies!
Meanwhile, Bomi and William continue their scorned lovers’ conference. William asks Bomi about how he knew Huwei from before, and Bomi says it was just one date. William asks why go out with Huwei again when it looks like it didn’t work out after that first date, and Bomi says it just felt like destiny that they met again here in the Green Room. William then brings up his nude photos past with Izaya and how he thinks it probably wouldn’t work out now because it didn’t work out before, and I want to tell William that maybe things have changed now, you know? Maybe both of you have matured?
Huwei and Izaya are having a lighter conversation where they are, as Izaya tells Huwei that he knows he wrote him the letter because Huwei likes leaving smiley faces. And can I tell all you guys how cute it is that huge, hulking guy Huwei is folding into himself in embarrassment? So cute.
This time around, it’s Hiroya who questions Bomi about his choice of partners during his shift. Bomi opens up even more, talking about how it was Huwei who kept messaging him online. Hiroya, however, is talking as a competitor, because he tells Bomi to his face that he’s going to be picking Huwei as well. You gotta give Hiroya props for the audacity!
Elsewhere in the house, William talks about his data center job, and I gotta say that generative AI has fucked things up so much that when William talks about how his job includes managing the heat each data center makes, I already ended up being pissed off for no good reason. Jobu, meanwhile, is touch-starved and just wants someone.
Huwei and Izaya finally return, and as the boys have dinner they talk about birthday gifts, and how Izaya just wants to receive a letter that he can read alone for his birthday. From across the table, William says that letters are better because you can keep them, and I say that you can burn them too!
However, the real drama starts when right in front of Jobu, Izaya just casually starts massaging William’s feet. Jobu, baby, you are outmaneuvered. And you’re apparently a glutton for punishment too, because you’re still watching this from your little corner rather than going somewhere else away from all of this!
I don’t know how they edited this so I don’t know if this is even from the same moment in time, but now we have Huwei and Jobu hugging in the same location, with William still sprawled there and Hiroya and Kazuyuki watching. Does everyone have a go at William now? All the guys start hugging each other and it does look like Huwei and William give great hugs. I need a hug. But Jobu didn’t get a hug from William so I feel better.
The next shift leader is Izaya and since he is a bottom bitch boy he picks William. Jobu is seething and he and Bomi have a little talk about it in the laundry room. Jobu is practically giving up and Bomi is trying to lift his spirits up but I think Jobu is on the right track here. I think William and Izaya are just dancing around what they know is inevitable, and are just torturing the other guys who may be into them.
Jobu then shifts the focus to Bomi and asks about him, and Bomi admits that he was a little rattled by Hiroya’s audacity. Bomi says he can’t tell if it’s love or anxiety, and then swerves the focus back on Jobu by telling him that he’s been single-minded about pursuing William and that he shouldn’t be scared of putting himself out there.
Over at the coffee truck, things aren’t proceeding as smoothly between William and Izaya. William says all of this feels weird, and Izaya is thankfully saved from further awkwardness when customers arrive. It’s a short reprieve, though, because the conversation starts back up and William tells Izaya that he didn’t really know how Izaya felt about him when they went out before. I think William should also make it clear that the way he remembers it, he and Izaya only went out four times max, because that is definitely going to recalibrate Izaya’s response. The guys end their shift with just ¥3,100 and just for that I think they should be kicked out.
Back at the Green Room, Hiroya asks Huwei about Izaya asking William to be his shift partner. Huwei’s wondering if the guys are picking out their shift partners just because they want to work with them or because they’re interested in them, and Huwei, baby, my big, buff, baby, this is a dating show. Hiroya knows this is a dating show and continuous his streak of audacity by straight out telling Huwei he’s interested in him. You really gotta give him props for this! I don’t think Huwei is reciprocating, but somewhere out there is a guy who’s into you, Hiroya!
Having heard that William didn’t think he was into him when they went out in the past, Izaya directly tells William that he is into him and couldn’t stop thinking about him the whole time they spent apart in different countries. I do have to admit to a little confusion about William being the first to ghost Izaya and then expecting Izaya to still continue messaging him even then. Because I think at that point William would have accused Izaya of being pushy? If you’re not Izaya, just stop this torture and let him go.
To William’s credit, when Izaya tells him that maybe this whole thing is destiny, he tells Izaya that he only feels that way because they had a past. He also mentions in the confessional that he feels like this is his fault and he’s trying to not lead Izaya on and get his hopes up. Also, the shot of Izaya starting to tear up and the tremble in his voice? Peak television. Also, when they go back to the Green Room and Izaya continues his courtship of William and Jobu stares daggers at them? PEAK COMEDY. I was cackling.
Hiroya is the next shift leader and I kinda want him to pick someone else just for the comedy of it, but of course he picks Huwei. Also, Huwei can’t speak Thai? How are you competing for the national team? Okay wait so he is Thai, he says so himself, but he can only speak a little Thai. I guess he’s like one of the coño kids from here who can’t speak Filipino. But so far, Huwei’s spoken in Japanese, Chinese, English, and Thai. So impressive! They end the shift with ¥5,050, an amount I would scoff at if it weren’t for William and Izaya’s abysmal ¥3,100 sales.
After their shift, Hiroya hands over a cute toy for Huwei and I really feel for him! I don’t think Huwei’s reciprocating his feelings, but Hiroya seems like such an earnest guy and I hope that he finds a partner somewhere down the line.
Back at the Green Room, Izaya is just all over William and I’m really sorry but I am just CACKLING OUT LOUD at Jobu and his sad face. I’m sorry, but I just find it hilarious. And then Jobu brings up the fact that he doesn’t mind it if his partner has sex with other people if it’s just sex and I am cackling. I think he was signaling that hey it’s okay let’s have sex it’s not cheating BUT THEN. Turns out William cheated on a relationship before and he regretted it and the atmosphere immediately turns tense and I am loving it. Everyone is literally looking anywhere else other than William and Izaya because as it turns out, Izaya ended a seven-year relationship because the guy cheated on him. And William just admitted to cheating. I love mess.
If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
