Okay so this is a little late because I spent the weekend hanging out with my sister and watching Dune Part Two. And then I have work all Sundays of this month so I had to earn money first before I could finally sit down and watch this episode. Not that anyone was waiting with bated breath for any of this but whatever.
Let’s watch the latest episode!
I’t episode nine so the queens are now legitimately getting shook by the eliminations that are happening. Morphine just sent Xunami home in the previous episode and she had a hard time even reading the mirror message. Even shady lady Plane Jane had some nice words to say about Xunami.
In the confessionals, Plasma says that it could by anyone next and girl. GIRL. Saying that in the confessionals is like putting up a big neon sign saying ELIMINATE ME. You’re in danger girl!
Mhi’ya, now that she’s overcome her shyness and is feeling her oats, is also being a shady lady in her confessionals, insisting that Sapphira should have won Snatch Game instead of Plane Jane. Now I wouldn’t call myself a Plane Jane stan, but she won that Snatch Game as soon as she uttered the words Beautiful Balkan War Survivor.
Dawn, on the other hand, continues being Dawn and flat out says to Nympia’s face that she’s “gooped and gagged” that Nymphia wasn’t part of the bottom two. Which, to be fair, she would have been if it wasn’t for the beautiful outfit. That outfit really did save her.
The next day, the girls have to perform the best spit take as the mini challenge and I dunno guys I know it follows the tradition of the show’s random mini challenges but I just have an ick about spewing out that much liquid. It’s a little too close to projectile vomiting for me and I am not a fan of projectile vomiting. Anyways, Ru CACKLED at Nymphia’s spit take and she wins the cash prize.
Ru then announces that the Maxi challenge for this episode is a goth runway, yet another sewing challenge that really is setting up Mhi’ya to be eliminated. But then again I said that the last time and Mhi’ya ended up being one of the top girls, so maybe I should just shut up.
Dawn is feeling quite excited about the challenge and okay, she does have a chance of getting through to the next episode, but will she notch a Maxi challenge win? We shall see!
Q is also feeling very confident but at least she has top placements to back that confidence up. Nymphia also doesn’t seem very troubled since she actually won a design challenge before, and seeing Sapphira groaning about it was actually hilarious. She has had it!
Plasma says she has never had a relationship with goth and GIRL. GIRL YOU ARE SIGNING YOUR EVICTION PAPERS OR WHATEVER WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
Mhi’ya, who already wasn’t thrilled about having to do another design challenge, is also over it and is looking to just squeak out a safe placement. But what troubles me more is that Sapphira apprently doesn’t know what goth is and is actually nervous about this challenge. Sapphira please you’re in my top two get yourself together!
Dawn, on the other hand, keeps talking about how much she wants this win which either means she in the bottom two this episode or she finally gets a win after getting a Balenciaga comment from Law Roach in episode six. Let’s see how this episode progresses.
We then head over to Nymphia who made me laugh the hardest this episode with “I feel sad for not being in yellow for this challenge, but not that sad cause I look great in black.”
And then Sapphira gets another laugh out of me when she tells Morphine that she won’t be hearing “You are the winner of this week’s challenge” in English either after Nymphia taught Morphine how to say it in Mandarin. The shade of it all!
Plasma is starting to campaign for the immunity potion and the show really is tailoring this episode to be the one where Plasma lands in the bottom. Well, depending on who she’s up against, she might actually be sent home which is wild because she’s already got two challenge wins! Her bottom two placement is reinforced even more when she let Dawn talk her into abandoning all the work she’s done to come up with another garment and YOU KNOW a queen is going to be in the bottom if she redoes a garment and she’s not Trinity the Tuck.
Q further complicates things for Plasma when she points out to Plane that the two of them have pretty similar designs. This episode is really not going to be a good one for Plasma all signs are pointing to her getting a bottom two placement.
And then Sapphira does the sweetest thing and comforts Plasma and tries to bring her spirits up? It was such a touching moment that wasn’t made to look cloying and it was so. nice, I love Sapphira!
But as usual with this show, being a good person to others is quickly punished and the production immediately constructs a storyline where Sapphira uses up her time making Mhi’ya’s outfit for her, while at the same time making Mhi’ya look like a user who takes advantage of people. And to be fair Mhi’ya really should be doing her own outfits at this point and Sapphira should have stopped at the point where she said she would stop rather than taking on most of the work of making Mhi’ya’s outfit.
The next day Mhi’ya is feeling pretty confident about her position on the show and I gotta say you wanted her to speak up and be more assertive and she’s just doing what you asked! Production created this monster!
The runway show starts and the outfit Sapphira made for Mhi’ya really does look good on her body, to be absolutely fair. Dawn’s look is also okay, but definitely doesn’t match the bravado with which she talked about it, at least in my opinion as someone who doesn’t sew.
Plasma’s outfit is okay, considering its the second one she had to make after abandoning her initial plans, but it does look a little…over the counter? Is that the term? It looks very much like something you’d buy at a store in mall.
Sapphira’s outfit is great taking into consideration that she had no idea what goth even is but it kinda ends up being overlooked because Nymphia comes in right after her and again it’s another gorgeous creation from Nymphia. This wouldn’t have looked out of place on one of the twins from The Sandman Netflix show.
Q comes out and my goodness it’s another beautiful outfit in a different font than Nymphia’s, if that makes sense? Both the outfits have this sense of volume but expressed through the different viewpoints of Q and Nymphia. I hope that made sense because I am not a fashion person at all and don’t have the vocabulary to better describe those two outfits.
Everybody is getting critiqued this episode and to Mhi’ya’s credit, she isn’t denying that Sapphira helped her out with her outfit. She isn’t going to Bebe Zahara Benet herself in this episode at least.
Dawn gets great critiques which really just tells me that I have no fashion knowledge mouth and should probably not comment extensively about the queen’s fashion because like Jon Snow I know nothing.
Sapphira gets props not just for her outfit but also for basically making Mhi’ya’s outfit for her, which is great because she really was helping out so many people in the Werk Room. Nymphia and Q also get great critiques, but really that’s to be expected at this point because these are the two fashion queens of the season.
Q wins the Maxi challenge, deservedly so, while Plane Jane, Dawn, Sapphira, and Nymphia Wind are all safe. Mhi’ya, Morphine, and Plasma are the bottom three and it’s going to be Mhi’ya and Plasma battling it out I can just feel it.
And I was right Mhi’ya and Plasma are the bottom two and this is Mhi’ya’s third time at the bottom. Normally that would mean it’s her time to go but this is all going to be determined by the lip sync.
It’s Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” and Plasma’s departure was immediately apparent the moment Mhi’ya did her flips because she did them wearing a freaking gown. That is skill. It wasn’t the black petals because those were whack nobody has ever done it as well as Sasha Velour has.
