Yes I’m back again! It’s finally the weekend and I can catch up on The Boyfriend and the Drag Race franchises currently airing. Let’s get into it!
The previous episode saw a lot of tears being shed as Usak bid goodbye to the Green Room. I admit it’s also a bit of a power move especially after he confessed his feelings to Kazuto, who now has to stew with that confession while also dealing with Usak’s departure. How is that going to affect him moving forward?
The new episode starts with Ryota and Gensei watering plants at the Green Room, then segueing to Usak speech before his departure where he says that the guys should take the opportunity they have in the Green Room to share their feelings. Gensei, in particular, is affected by the speech. Let’s see how this plays out in the episode!
Apparently I didn’t have to wait for too long because Gensei makes it very clear in the next scene that Ryota is for him. I guess that misunderstanding during the early parts of the show actually blossomed into something real! He even does that whole taking a photo of the thing behind your crush’s back it’s so cute!
People are no longer assigned coffee truck shifts now, with the guys volunteering when they want to, and this really looks like it’s going to be Gensei’s episode as he immediately volunteers when they’re prompted by production. And immediately picks Ryota. He really took Usak’s words to heart!
Ryota and Gensei’s shift ends with ¥10,500 in earnings. See what being inspired by someone you like can do for you! It’s almost as much as the earnings when Kazuto’s manning the coffee truck! And Gensei really is barreling forward and just telling Ryota that he’s had his eyes on him since the beginning and that he wanted to go with him during the date event. And now he even brought Ryota a gift! AND EVEN ASKS TO DO RYOTA’S MAKE-UP. DAMNNNN GENSEI. Ryota, stop pining over men who don’t want you and go with Gensei!
BUT THEN RYOTA SAYS IN THE CONFESSIONALS THAT HE COULDN’T TELL IF GENSEI LIKED HIM OR NOT COME ON NOW RYOTA. GOD I’M GETTING HEATED.
While that misunderstanding is happening, Shun is out to start some mess as he asks Dai to sit beside him. If these two ever get together it’s going to be an explosive mess I swear. Shun called Dai over to lay on his lap and then removes Dai’s hand from his chest. I am too old for something like that I’m sorry.
Shun is also doing all of this after telling Dai that he only wants to be friends in the previous episode. Shun even admits in the confessionals that now that they’re “friends”, he’s drawn to Dai. I’m sorry Dai but this is beyond red flags. You are walking into the factory that makes the red flags. Run away and run away now.
Finally Taeheon gets some screen time as he volunteers to run the coffee truck with Kazuto as his partner. Alan is nodding his head like yeah okay but is it really okay? Hmm? Hmm?
Meanwhile, Ryota is still pining over Kazuto and Gensei you’re gonna have to blow him in the coffee truck or something because Ryota is dense. Jesus Christ. At least play with his balls or something. And then Ryota’s going to say in the confessional that “it wasn’t clear” probably.
Back at the Green Room, Ryota and Gensei are making…lunch? And Gensei flat out asks Ryota how he changes when he’s dating someone. Ryota says he centers his life around the guy he’s dating while Gensei says he adjusts for the guy.
To Ryota’s credit, he tells Gensei that he was straightforward with confessing his feelings to Kazuto since you have to be clear in situations like that and Gensei, fondle his balls in the kitchen right now there’s nothing more straightforward than that. If Ryota misinterprets that then there’s just no hope there. Gensei sounds like he’s given up in the confessionals, but Ryota wearing his necklace still gives him some hope.
As if there isn’t enough going on in the house, we get a new cast member: Ikuo. He’s 22, he works at a burger shop, and he likes getting butterflies in his stomach. He wants to sleep together, take baths together, and he likes the simple things and I don’t know why but I feel like he’s going to ruffle everyone’s feathers for some reason. And the flash forward to the future seems to promise just that because this guy is assertive,
The next morning Gensei asks Ryota to make him another cafe mocha and of Ryota does but Gensei, baby, he’s doing this as a friend. It’s not because he’s interested in you as more than a friend. He’s still hung up over Kazuto. Take a cue from Ikuo and just go for it!
As they eat breakfast, Ryota, Gensei, and Shun talk about Ikuo and wonder if he’ll go for Kazuto as well. While Shun’s the one that brings it up first, he also thinks that the personalities of those two are going to clash. They think about asking Ikuo who he found attractive when he first arrived and when the possibility of him like Dai comes up Shun says it’s going to be a battle between Ikuo and him. I dunno but if I were Dai I’d go with someone who’s clearer to talk with.
Anyways, the guys will be going on a pic and let’s take a break from relationship drama and let me say I’m hungry? I want the food Kazuto made? Maybe I can still order takeout? Okay, back to the drama!
It’s pretty clear to anyone who has eyes that Ikuo is into Dai. He’s already had Dai’s fingers in his mouth, for one, when he tasted those potatoes. And now they’re making rice balls and Shun is skulking in the corner. Although one negative I do see is Ikuo is so much taller than Dai. For some reason I don’t think Dai is going to be into someone that taller than him.
Ikuo’s said that he already wants to get to know one of the guys better, but doesn’t really say who. Dai, meanwhile, tells Ryota that he finds Ikuo endearing and refreshing, and Dai. Dzai. I think Ikuo is the better choice, go ahead and pick him! Maybe I was wrong about him having a thing about height!
As Dai and Ikuo take photos of each other, Shun is asking the rest of the guys if they wanna go to the lighthouse but Alan is more preoccupied about the aftermath of his date with Kazuto. I don’t think Kazuto’s told him yet that he found him a little too straightforward for his taste.
While that‘s happening, Shun takes Ryota and Gensei to…somewhere…and tries to convince hiimself that Dai wouldn’t choose Ikuo. Go ahead Shun, keep telling yourself that.
Meanwhile, Alan finally gets some clarity from Kazuto who flat out tells him that after their overnight date he sees him more as a friend now. Which hurts but at least that’s direct! I prefer that over Shun’s hot and cold persona.
Down at the beach, Dai tells Ikuo that his ex was just like him, while Ikuo tells Dai that his last relationship was with an older guy who spoiled him a lot. And already this conversation is already so much more light and friendly than the ones Dai has with Shun? Ikuo even gets to thrown a few unintentional jabs at Shun when he says that he doesn’t like it when he does his best to interact with someone and all he gets are lackluster responses. Clock Shun’s tea!
In a scene right from a romance drama, Kazuto and Alan are exploring some rock formations on the beach and Kazuto ends up hurting his ankle. And you know what that means! Piggyback ride! There may be hope for the Kazuto-Alan ship yet! Or maybe not because Alan says he’s grateful that Kazuto was clear with him because now he can act more naturally with him. I agree but also I dunno maybe you guys can still end up together!
Meanwhile, the trio of confused homosexuals — Shun, Gensei, and Ryota — are still very much confused. Ryota still wants to talk to Kazuto and he says this right in front of Gensei, who looks like he’s about to cry, maybe? And while that happens Dai comes to get some water while holding a pretty long banana because any other fruit would have been too subtle.
Ryota tells Shun that he wouldn’t have been able to handle having to look at Dai having fun with Ikuo, while Gensei is pining for Ryota behind his glasses. It’s like a fucking Jane Austen or Wong Kar-wai movie or something! Just say how you feel! Especially you, Gensei, I’m rooting for you!
