Ron Watches Drag Race España Season 4 Episode 8

The finale is just around the corner, so let’s not waste time and jump right into this new episode of Drag Race España!

Angelita La Perversa went home in the previous episode and La Niña is enjoying sending Angelita home. Le Coco defends her in the confessionals, but from what little I’ve seen on social media, it seems like the Spanish prefer La Niña’s group over them? I dunno, I’m barely on social media nowadays, much less another country’s social media.

It also looks like Angelita really was the villain of the season because as soon as she’s gone, the queens are getting along pretty well. Even Mariana and Megui, who had a fight about being masc and femme all the way back in episode two, are cool with each other.

Supremme walk into the Werk Room to break up all the kumbayah shit and tell them this week’s mini challenge — putting clothes on the Pit Crew. And putting it on well! Not just piling it on top of the boys. Which of course the Pit Crew has to take off when they start counting how many pieces they’ve got on.

Megui wins the challenge and aside from an underwear collection, he also gets to decide who gets what role in the Maxi Challenge, which is a roast. And for the first time in Drag Race España herstory, it’s in front of a live studio audience. That’s a challenge all on its own! But then the queens get told that if their roast is boring they’ll get played off the stage. My god. I don’t know if that’s worse or having one of the judges clap back at you.

This season, picking the order is usually a tense affair, but the queens generally get the order that they want so there’s no drama there. Vampirashian does think that Chloe isn’t a good pick to open the show since she thinks Chloe’s going to fail but that’s all said in the confessionals anyway.

During the rehearsals, Mariana looks like she’s going to be the one in trouble because she doesn’t feel comfortable with roasting the other queens. Which really is a departure from episode two if you’re asking me. I also feel like Le Coco is going to be in the bottom as well just from Supremme saying that those they have the highest expectation from in the roast always end up in the bottom. You in danger Le Coco.

The next day as they start getting ready for the roast, the queens talk about venue safety and how some patron feel like they have access to their body because they’re in drag. La Niña tells a story of how she and a friend got beat up twice in the same night because of transphobia. Jesus. Le Coco doesn’t bring it up directly, but it also seems like even in Spain there’s a movement toward the right, something that’s happening all over the world, I guess. And in all seriousness I blame it all on social media.

The roast starts and while Chloe does well, Le Coco is on fire. That Kelly joke about how Le Coco would like to talk about Kelly’s time on the show but Le Coco would rather block out trauma? CACKLING AND SCREAMING. Telling Ana Locking to get Kleenex and a psychologist? BITCH. Calling Los Javis attention whores? I’M DECEASED.

I don’t think anyone would have succeeded following up that great set from Le Coco and the unlucky queen that gets that distinction is La Niña. She got some good jokes in but honestly? It just pales beside Le Coco’s set. Mariana bombs. Vampirashian flounders. Megui a trainwreck. Le Coco really pissed on that stage and on everyone else.

I’m still thinking of Le Coco’s roast even as the runway happens, although if I’m asked to pick maybe I’d go with either Mariana or La Niña? But really what’s playing in my head is Le Coco’s roast. Still.

It’s clear from the judges’ critiques that it’s going to be Le Coco winning this thing and Vampirashian and either Mariana or Megui in the bottom, but just to add a little spice to the proceedings the panel also asks the queens who they think should go home. And it’s Megui and…La Niña. Oh this isn’t going to make the “weird” queens look any better to the general public, especially when Mariana and Vampi were right there.

Back on the stage, Le Coco wins, duh, while Mariana and Megui are the bottom queens. And Megui gets sent home! I have a bad feeling that the producers want the La Niña group to be the top four and we’re going to see Le Coco go home in the next episode. Just saying!
