Now this is a day late, because my previous post was unintentionally a week late because I didn’t know that they had released two episode at the time. Oh well!
Matt and Fisk had their big violent blowouts in the previous episode, with Matt subduing Muse — but failing to apprehend him — and Fisk I think killing Adam? He’s got to be dead. But we don’t really know for sure because Fisk is talking about fear and how it permeates the city. But Fisk for sure knows that Daredevil is back because Hector Ayala’s niece makes it out alive from Muse’s hideout and has told everybody that it’s Daredevil who saved her.
Over at Matt’s house, we get a shot of him showering and I got into K-dramas during the pandemic and I almost thought it would be a fan service shot like they do over there but of course it isn’t because 1. we don’t get to see abs, 2. he’s bleeding, and 3. his girlfriend enters the shower too. But let’s take a look at a K-drama shower scenes anyway.
ANYWAY I GOT DISTRACTED FOR A BIT. Matt’s girlfriend is not dumb and she knows that the bruise she saw in the shower is indicative of something else and not just Matt bumping into something because he’s blind. She’s a therapist after all! But Matt manages to charm his way out of a full-blown fight with her.
But now that Matt’s gotten a taste of being Daredevil again he’s itching to go after Muse again, even trying to enlist Cherry to help him out but Cherry isn’t having any of it. I understand that Cherry doesn’t want to help him out because of what happened with Foggy all the way back in episode one but surely he can also see the reality of the city? More than 60 people killed and the police isn’t exactly a shining example of virtue.
Fisk isn’t happy about the return of Daredevil either and basically reminds the audience that Daredevil took him and his “business operation” down during the Netflix series. It is darkly funny that Fisk is complaining about Daredevil forsaking due process when he’s literally the head of a crime syndicate. But now that he’s got the city’s resources at his disposal, he’s going to make sure that those who exist outside of it like Daredevil are going to be dealt with.
While Fisk plays at politics, Vanessa is talking to the criminal element that Fisk used to be a part of. And while the past few episode have shown that Vanessa isn’t exactly feeling the love for Fisk like she used to in the Netflix series, this time around they imply that she might be willing to betray him, especially since she gets praised for how well she ran things during his absence and how now might be the time for a “change”. This is definitely a development I love!
Meanwhile, the hostage negotiator from episode five comes bearing great news for Fisk. They’ve narrowed down the list of suspects on the Muse case and Muse could possibly be someone named Bastian Cooper, who the show is trying to imply is one of the patients of Matt’s girlfriend. But where is the bruising around his neck though? Daredevil almost lynched him in the previous episode! But he is Muse and boy Daredevil will definitely hunt you down now that you’ve kidnapped his girlfriend. And Matt knows Muse is after his girlfriend after rifling through Muse’s artwork and finding the similarity with his girlfriend’s face. I don’t know if the blind community will say that’s realistic but it’s a comic book TV show anyway so let’s suspend our disbelief!
Right as Muse is preparing to paint a new canvas with Matt’s girlfriend, he bursts into the office to rescue her. We get the trademark violence that comes with a Daredevil fight but what I really liked is that at the end, it’s Matt’s girlfriend who kills Muse. Now how that’s going to affect her moving forward? Either way, Fisk doesn’t want news getting out that Daredevil took part in this and over at City Hall, Daniel is threatening BB and wanting her to follow the official story that Fisk wants to push.
And then we get another shock at the end of this episode. Vanessa sends one of the thugs to kill Fisk but Fisk is ready for it. Now the question is does he know that Vanessa is the one who sent the assassin to kill him?
