I was supposed to do this yesterday but unfortunately, my professional life got in the way. This blog isn’t paying the bills, after all! But I’m here now and I’m catching up!
It’s the final episode of this bracket! Honestly, I think two of the people moving on have already been determined in the previous episode so let’s see who’s going to be the third queen moving on to the next round.
After last week’s events, Kerri is determined to get a point from any of her sisters. I don’t think she even cares about getting to the next round, she just doesn’t want to end up with zero points. But she isn’t the only one feeling a certain way about how the points stand, as Tina Burner thinks that it was shadily distributed the last time. And she’s not wrong!
Kerri previously had a conversation with Lydia about giving each other their points, but she’s now doubting if Lydia is going to stand by that agreement since she’s Mistress’s daughter now. But I guess she got over that because she gave her point to Lydia, despite NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA giving the point to her. Of course, Mistress immediately jumps on that and tries to stir the pot. Tina gives her point to NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA and then Lydia gives hers to Kerri. TINA BURNER GOT NOTHING. That’s the end of that Lydia-Tina alliance.
The next day, despite alleging that she’s not heated during the handing out points before, Tina Burner is very heated and says that what Lydia did changed her opinion of her. Lydia’s just wondering if, for once, she is the drama.
The conversation gets even more heated when Mistress alleges that Lydia and Tina planned to rob Kerri and NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA of points again but all of them are saved by the bell.
We find out that this week’s Maxi Challenge is the Rusical and you just know Ru is going to pick Jorgeous as one of the top queens. It’s going to be a battle for second and third but given how things progressed in the previous episode, I think we have an idea of what’s going to happen.
Mistress immediately gets to work once they start assigning the roles, planning to put together NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA, Kerri, and Tina in one group so that the end result will be a “disaster”. She succeeds, but the “disaster” girls aren’t entirely unaware that Mistress maneuvered this to her advantage. Or at least, Kerri isn’t unaware. She knows Mistress is manipulating them but she thinks by leaning into it she can outmaneuver Mistress. We shall see if she succeeds!
While the queens are reading their lines and rehearsing it’s NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA that immediately pulls focus. She’s loud in a hilarious way and delusion in her confessionals in a hilarious way that you can’t help but be entertained and even root for her. And she takes that confidence and delusion into the voice recording and Leland is fine with it so there!
AND SHE GETS UNDER MISTRESS SKIN. Loudly declaring she’s boring, yawning, definitely fucking with Mistress. And it doesn’t help Mistress’ case that Leland seems to agree with NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA.
The takedown of Mistress continues in the dance rehearsal, where Adam Shankman doesn’t seem to give her any slack. He’s not mean by any stretch, but he’s not being charmed by Mistress’ either. Will this mean a Mistress crashout in the episode? Maybe, but the show could also just be lulling me into a false sens of security and then suddely Mistress is the top queen of the episode. And to be fair, other than Jorgeous and Kerri, everybody else struggles during the dance rehearsal.
As they prepare for the Maxi Challenge, we have the usual Werk Room discussion but it’s kinda just a retread of the points discussion they’ve had in the previous episode. NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA did get in that inbred read at Jorgeous that was so hilarious.
The Rusical starts and it’s so funny how the Vaseline on the lens gets extra Vaseline-y when Ru is performing. It’s like I’m back in season one! After her, it’s Kerri, Tina, and NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA performing and…I mean, it was okay? But it wasn’t mind-blowing. And I think Mistress’ group isn’t any better either? I think neither of the groups did bad, it’s just that they’re both mid.
We get to this week’s runway which has the them Wild, Wild West and as much as I have enjoyed NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA in the previous episodes, her fashion hasn’t really caught up with the current Drag Race.
Tina Burner says she was going for vintage Wonder Woman but what I’m getting from her outfit is Xena Warrior Princess WHICH IS NOT A READ AT ALL I RELIGIOUSLY FOLLOWED XENA.
Kerri’s look, on the other hand, looks very much like Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter era, which is a very good era to copy from if the theme is Wild, Wild West. It definitely outshone Mistress’ look, which was…okay.
Lydia’s look though? She made that? And I say that in a very, very complimentary tone. How much time did she have between Season 17 and All Stars? She definitely outshone Jorgeous the same way Kerri outshone Mistress.
During the critiques, NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA and Tina Burner get okay critiques considering their performance and it’s so funny how the production wants the audience to think that Tina is smarting from being overshadowed by Kerri because Tina’s face just lends to it, if you know what I mean? Tina just has that face that always seems like it has a grudge.
But what surprised me is Lydia getting a lot of compliments! Not that I wanted her to do badly, but I just thought that production would be lifting Mistress and Jorgeous up to the top. Those critiques, however, clearly put Lydia and Jorgeous as the top two queens of this episode.
Lydia and Jorgeous are indeed the top two queens, but the lede of this story is NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA immediately telling Tina that they can block Mistress from the top if they give both their points to Kerri. Oh this is exciting! I am absolutely looking forward to what the outcome of that little plan is going to be more than the lip sync, which I feel Jorgeous will win because come on.
The lip sync song is “Texas Hold ‘Em” by Beyoncé and COME ON. Jorgeous is a Texan so the outcome is obvious. And no surprise, Jorgeous wins the lip sync. Let’s get to the actual highlight which is the distribution of MVQ points.
NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA and Tina Burner give their points to Kerri and Kerri gives her point to Tina. There’s now just a .5 difference between Mistress and Kerri. Mistress is going to give away the deciding point and she gives it to…Lydia. And she does that after calling Kerri a fake bitch on the stage. The gaggery. The MALICIOUS GAY FAGGOTRY of it all.
And Kerri going off in the confessional about Mistress. Delicious.
