We’re sorta on schedule! We finally saw our first elimination in the previous episode, and with the Lucky Cow benefit gone, we’ll see one elimination after another. Let’s get into it!
The queens get back to the Werk Room, and as Sillexa points out, the ~prophecy~ came true and Pasty did go home next. After congratulating Sally for her win, I thought Sillexa was stirring the pot by asking what the queens thought about their creations, but it turns out that it was just a moment of deprecation for her. It’s Viola who continues to poke at people, but I think this is just her being socially inept? Or mistaking cockiness for confidence? The follies of youth!
Back in the Werk Room the next day, the queens are still very chummy, as Paige Three points out, but as she also points out, it’s only a matter of time before they start scratching at each other as the episodes go on. And that might start happening now, as Ru enters the Werk Room and tells them that this week will be the girl group challenge. The UK franchise probably had the first iconic girl group among all the franchises with The Frock Destroyers, so the queens have a history to live up to.
Sally and Viola are the group leaders, so the two groups we get are Bones, Sillexa, Chai, and Elle for Sally, and Paige Three, Tayris, Bonnie, Nyongbella, and Catrin for Viola. Catrin was not Viola’s choice, which was funny to see.
In the confessionals, Catrin thinks that she may have shot herself in the foot by joining Viola’s team, but she says that she thinks that Viola’s group is a strong group, which just tells me that production is going to put this group in the bottom. That’s just how it is in TV Land!
Both Sally and Viola’s teammates bring up their girl group bonafides, or at least those who have those bonafides, and in the confessionals, Nyongbella is already building herself up as the Beyoncé of the group. So, this will either be a self-fulfilling prophecy, or production will humble her like they did in episode one.
We then get to the catty part of the episode, as Bones and Paige Three trade barbs from across the room as they start writing their lyrics. These two are either going to have a shouting match, or they’ll end up having sex. Only two options.
Also, Viola’s group being named F@llen Ang3lz compared to Sally’s Hotline X? We already know which group’s going to be in the bottom. We really can’t tell from the recording sessions, though, as Nyongbella is the only one shown with a slightly negative critique. Not even negative to be honest, but she was the only one from the group who was shown getting direction. Hotline X, on the other hand, all looked like they smashed their time recording.
The F@llen Ang3lz look better during choreography, especially with Paige leading the group, but Hotline X are shady queens whispering and critiquing the group, with Bones being especially cutting in her confessional. And maybe she does have a right to be cutting, because Hotline X also look good doing their choreography. It really does look like production is already setting down the F@llen Ang3lz bottom placement storyline.
The next day, the tension is high between the groups, and not in a playful and catty way, but in an actual combative way, especially between Paige Three and Bones. During choreography the day before, Paige Three did reveal that Bones wasn’t a dancer before, and that it’s a new development, so is there some professional rivalry going on here?
It’s an entirely different thing happening between Catrin and Tayris, who seem to be going the Kori King-Lydia Collins route. Will this get them more screen time and episodes? We shall see! Ru does love a love team, all the way back to season five with Jinkx Monsoon and Ivy Winters.
F@llen Ang3lz is performing first and they were okay! Hotline X also do good with their performance, and I honestly don’t know who did better between them. Paige Three does have thoughts in the Werk Room, and I am going to defer to her opinion since she actually does this for a living.
The runway theme for this episode is Cuddly Wuddly, and…hmmm. Again, I want to stress that I am not a fashion person, so I may be missing things, but none of the outfits looked impressive to me? Maybe Viola’s? But only because I recognize it from Five Nights at Freddy’s, a game I have never played, but is so widespread on the internet that I kinda learned it via osmosis. Elle’s, Chai’s, and Sillexa’s looks were memorable too.
Surprise! They’re going to be judged individually. Bonnie, Catrin, Tayris, Sally, and Sillexa are all safe. During the critiques, I thought the runway would be a deciding factor since they initially made it sound like everyone did good in the performance, but Viola gets read for her performance and look, so I think it’s safe to say that she’s going home. This is her second time in the bottom! And she already looks defeated when they go back to the Werk Room after the critiques, which really just cements her departure.
Bones wins this week’s challenge, and Nyongbella and Viola are in the bottom. And I think it’s very clear who is going home. That costume doesn’t help her out at all in the lip sync, so Viola is sent packing. Oh well.
This is a new addition to the posts, but if any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
