Ron Watches Are You Sure? Season 2 Episode 2

At the end of the last episode, Jimin and Jungkook had just woken up to start their first full day of activities in Switzerland. Let’s see what they got up to!

We don’t immediately jump into their first full day in Switzerland in this episode, as we get to see Jungkook try to lock Jimin out of their accommodations, a move that would have been funny if it wasn’t already funny that Jimin couldn’t even find his way back to their place after having breakfast. Jimin getting locked out still got a chuckle from me, though.

The guys decide to go to a lake after breakfast, with the show helpfully laying out their itinerary for us: hiking, lunch, table tennis, dinner, and an allowance-betting game. The lake they drive to is Lake Caumasee, which Google tells me is in Flims, Grisons, Switzerland. There’s a lot of hotels nearby that are just minutes away from the location, so I’m guessing they stayed in one of those.

As they’re walking on the trail to the lake, we get a little recap of last season, when Jimin got a mosquito bite, diarrhea, and Jungkook’s elbow in his face. He really did go through a lot that time, let’s be honest.

Despite having had that experience last time, he just drinks water straight from a public tap, and I don’t care if this is Switzerland or whatever, I remember that Hepatitis A outbreak back when I was in high school and I’ve never drank from public fountains since.

We also get constant reminders that the guys just got discharged, which I don’t blame them for! They spent a year and a half there! Seeing a canal reminds Jimin of how he was a master at digging drainage ditches when he was in the military, and there’s been enough time since their discharge for me not to feel raw about it when they mention it. Because everything is about me.

They finally arrive at Lake Caumasee and you know what? It really is beautiful. After a lucky draw, the guys get on…I don’t know if they’re paddle boards? I think those are still surfboards? They get on it and paddle on the lake, which, again, is just beautiful. And just like in season one, Jungkook is having just the tiniest bit of trouble on the thing. Maybe Jungkook’s weakness is the water? Hope he doesn’t fall into the water like last season!

Nobody falls into the water accidentally, although Jimin does jump into the lake after they reach a platform in the middle of it. Of course, Jungkook takes it as an opportunity to untie Jimin’s board from the platform and momentarily strand him there while he makes a quick getaway. Which then sparks a lake chase between the two of them as Jimin seeks revenge. I wish this fun for them always. I feel like a proud mom watching her kids’ vacation videos. Of course, Jimin can’t keep up with just the sheer power of Jungkook and gives up the chase.

After having fun at the lake, they head to Barger’s Burgers and I don’t know why I find that funny. The burgers do look good and those fries make me want to go out right now and by some fries. I want fries. Potatoes. Hmmmmm. Both Jungkook and Jimin are frowning as they eat the burgers, so those must have been really good burgers. But those two burgers with friends ended up being 44 Swiss francs total? P3,248 in current exchange rates? Now Jimin’s only got 6 Swiss francs left!

They then go grocery shopping for dinner and Jimin wants to find red pepper and the ways he says excuse me still sounds like it did all the way back in American Hustle Life if I’m remembering correctly? Only deeper and less smiley.

I’m sure nobody minds watching this again.

And wouldn’t you know it, Jimin finds the red pepper, keeps track of the budget, and managed to keep their grocery purchases under 50 Swiss francs. Jimin, handle my finances, I’m horrible at them.

After getting all the groceries stowed and in order, the guys play a not so exciting round of table tennis. They say it themselves! Or at least it was unexciting at the start, because the guys soon find their rhythm, They get confident enough to bet the 6 Swiss francs Jimin has left from Barger’s Burgers and…the boys actually do well! I thought that the staff planned for this beforehand and would have a skilled player battle it out with the guys, but this game seems like it really was completely unplanned and they didn’t prepare for it. THEY DID THEM DIRTY WITH THAT “YOU DIDN’T SAY CHALLENGE” TRICK THOUGH. The staff wins the second ~real~ round of table tennis and get the guys’ last 6 Swiss francs from them. Good thing they aren’t eating out for dinner.

And it’s a good thing that Jungkook’s cooking dinner, because that pasta looks delicious! He even ~improves~ the local pasta that the staff ordered, and I kinda feel bad for whatever restaurant they got that from. Let’s hope it was at least a fast food place so at least the cook won’t be as offended. OH OKAY THEY GOT IT FROM A CONVENIENCE STORE. That’s “good” because those things really are mid by design.

With the delicious dinner by Jungkook done, the guys play yutnori for tomorrow’s allowance and I gotta be honest. It’s been years of watching BTS and a lot of other Korean idols play this game and I still cannot get it. They’ve always explained how to play it but there’s just a switch in my brain that refuses to understand it. Anyways, they play it and the guys win! 100 Swiss francs for the next day’s activities!

Before they go to sleep, the guys talk about Namjoon sending an animation of military life, and Jimin shares that Namjoon had to go in alone, while he always had Jungkook with him, making his enlistment experience a little lighter, I guess. They can’t wait to get back to recording soon, and as ARMY are watching this now, they’ve all confirmed that they’re done recording and Namjoon’s even been sharing photos of them rehearsing!

The next day, they check out of the hotel and get a new itinerary as they head to another place. The new day’s agenda is Furka Pass riding, and then taking a train to Zermatt for their new accommodations. Just like the previous season, Jungkook is on a bike, and I felt so good for him when he got that moment with the bikers. And the scenery in Switzerland is just great. Those curves on Furka Pass though? I could never be a driver because I’d be an anxious mess traversing that and probably be the first person to fall of that thing without even speeding.

After getting their shots at the picture area of Furka Pass, the guys make their way back down, and as they do, Jimin talks about his wish to start performing as BTS again, even with a body that may not be as young as it used to be. WHICH LEMME TELL YOU AS AN ANCIENT ELDRITCH CREATURE, YOUR BODY STILL LOOKS VERY YOUNG, JIMIN. Them running to catch their train though? Boy, do I relate. And the panting and gasping afterwards? I FEEL YOU.

The scenic train ride though? I wish the train system here was that well-developed. Our trains suck, and they didn’t need to suck because we had the first light-rail system in Asia but we had to let a dictator ruin everything so there. ANYWAYS ENOUGH OF MY ANGST. They arrive in Zermatt and the accommodations they’re in are nice. Oh, if only I wasn’t a Third World pewr.

And the place where they’re having dinner? Like the caption said, Old World fancy. Also, Jungkook just being a baby saying “Please, more. Give me.” I want to wrap him up in swaddling clothes and carry him around like a baby.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
