The previous episode saw Jimin and Jungkook take pictures of the Matterhorn, as well as ski and snowboard under its shadow. They also went paragliding! Let’s see what they got up to in this episode!
Once they’re back at the hotel, Jimin and Jungkook do different things. Jimin eats, Jungkook showers. After they do their things, it’s time to play a game again for their dinner. They can either pay as individuals or play as a team, with different penalties for each. They pick the team option, so if they win, the staff will have to do the shopping.
The warm-up game is the celebrity game, and the guys…are not good. Jimin just called Chris Martin Justin! And since we’re talking Coldplay, let’s give “My Universe” a spin!
Stream it on Spotify too!
In fact, Jimin is the obvious weak spot, because he didn’t even recognize Jin. You’re not going to aegyo yourself out of this one! But you were very cute, just wanted to say that. Despite Jimin, they win their first game and now just need to win their second one.
This time around it’s a capital quiz, and Jungkook’s already given up before it’s started. And he was right to do so, because they only got one capital right and it was by chance. Now they have to do the grocery shopping, which isn’t really that much of a penalty when you consider how easy it is to travel around this place. It’s not like you’re going to do your grocery shopping here in the ~Global South~.
OH WAIT THERE’S ANOTHER GAME. It’s Rock, Paper, Scissors Minus One, which I think I only really understood a couple of years ago? Anyways, the staff are nice and throw the game for Jimin and Jungkook, but the guys don’t want to just be handed a win so they do the grocery shopping themselves.
They make quick work of the grocery shopping, and even have kimbaps before they head back to the hotel. And since it’s only been a week since they were discharged from the military, they’re still feeling a little weird about being out of that environment. They’ve been in there for a year and a half, after all.
As soon as they arrive at the lodging, they start cooking the food for them and the staff, and I seriously cannot believe that Jimin doesn’t know how to cook rice without a rice cooker. I thought all of us Asians were taught that? Jimin ends up not cooking rice, but it’s not really much of a loss because we’re going to get Jungkook cooking again. I don’t know if Matteo Lane’s going to consider Jungkook’s carbonara actual carbonara though, since Jungkook used carbonara sticks.
After getting the meat and the carbonara sauce ready, Jungkook takes a little rest, which then prompts Jimin to start peeling garlic cloves. After that contribution, Jungkook is back to handle the cooking and it really is nice to watch him cook. Has he ever thought of coming out with a cookbook? He’d make a killing.
Jimin tries to make a potato pancake from the ready-made one that the staff provided, but even that goes awry and we get to see hilarious footage of the two them being ~eliminated~ by the exploding potato pancake. I know I’m not a chef or even cook half as well as Jungkook, but I think Jimin put way too much oil and the potato pancake had too much water.
After dinner, they play another game that involves them trying to guess the song and the artist from a lyric recited by AI. The penalty is unspecified, but involves time and minimalism. What the hell could that be? Every right answer from them deducts two hours from 12 hours, and Jungkook is so good at the game that they whittle it down to two hours. Two hours without their phones. That’s not a penalty, that’s a reward. At least for me. Take my phone away from me!
But then I did not take into account that they did have their phones taken daily while enlisted in the military. They had maybe almost a year and a half of not using their phones, since I know they get to use them for a certain number of minutes while enlisted. Okay, so maybe it is a punishment for them. Jimin certainly feels like it is.
The next thing they have to decide is what time to wake up to the next day, and the game they’re going to play to decide that is Cham Cham Cham, because the staff smartly refuses to compete with Jungkook physically, which was Jimin’s suggestion. Winning all rounds means they can wake up at 10:30 in the morning, so I guess they’re not checking out yet because don’t these hotels have strict check out times? Either way, after a hilarious loss that has Jungkook staring at his hand like it was that possessed one in Idle Hands, they end up with a wake up time of 9:00. Not bad!
But before they go to bed, they still have one last activity to do, and that’s to view the night sky of Switzerland. They’re not just going to look up, but are going to head to a specific spot so they kind see the sky without all the light pollution that comes with city life. They seem happy with what they’re seeing, but I don’t know if what we’re being shown is what they saw. Sorry, I’m doubtful! But then Jungkook shows the photo he took with his own camera and that I believe. Fine.
The director hands them two glasses of whiskey, and I guess that’s romantic? Sorry, I’ve just never liked the taste of whiskey and if that was me there the moment would be ruined. But I’m not there so why should it matter, really. Jimin and Jungkook are thankful for the whiskey and enjoy the night sky. And it gets them yearning to do a concert, so if that’s what whiskey does then give ’em as much as they want! They even see a shooting star and Jimin wishes for BTS to last 40 more years. And a cat stops by!
The next morning, they wake up at 10 in the morning because they played an extra game on the way back and also because the staff wanted to wake up at 10. I would also like to wake up at 10 am. Looks like it’s going to be their last day! And despite the previous night’s potato pancake fiasco, Jimin is going to cook eggs this morning. Jungkook wants his eggs sunny side up, although given the previous night, I’d go with Jimin’s suggestion of scrambled eggs.
Jimin starts cooking the eggs and once again, the oil is popping. Your ingredients are watery, babe! That’s why this is happening. But Jimin’s eggs turn out well! We get Jungkook’s forehead of truth, so it must have really turned out well. Jungkook even used it for a croissant sandwich!
It’s their final day in Zermatt — I don’t know if it’s their final day in Switzerland — and the itinerary involves a train ride, a ferry ride, a hot tug, dinner, and games. And this time around they’re early for the train, so there’s no stress involved! They’re still going to be in Switzerland this time around, and their next mission is to go to the address they’re given on their own without any guidance from the staff. And the staff will be following them, which leads to Jungkook making that hilarious statement that the staff are all adults and it’s okay if they’re left behind.
And Jungkook and Jimin successfully lead them to the transfer train! Which leads to another transfer train before they get to their actual destination. Unfortunately, there seems to be a broken rail, which if that happened here I would be worried, but I’m pretty sure the Swiss have systems in place to handle that.
With the train transfer no longer available to them, they decide to go via the Lake Thun ferry instead. But since they have time to spare, they get hot dogs while waiting at the dock and I am reminded when Jungkook had that hotdog comparison thing back in 2018, I think. I’d add a video but I don’t think I have the patience to look for a video from six or seven years ago.
The guys move up and down the ferry depending on how hot it is, and then at one point Jimin sniffs Jungkook’s armpit? Oh, somebody somewhere is going to go somewhere with that one. But the ferry ride finally gets them to Interlacken, where they get on a rental car and drive to their next destination, Lake Brienz.
If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
