Ron Watches The Boyfriend Season 2 Episode 2

I am so behind because I’ve had a really busy past couple of weeks. Won’t be able to catch up since the final three episodes start airing today, but I’m still going full steam ahead on this since I loved the first season so much!

At the end of the previous episode, we were left with the revelation that William ghosted Izaya after Izaya said he wanted to take things to the next level. Honestly, after seeing those William pictures and video? I think William was doing Izaya a mercy because that cock? Would have split Izaya in half.

We start this episode with William, Jobu, and Izaya talking about arriving at the Green Room the first day. Honestly, I was a little confused at first because I thought they were talking about after they arrived back from the onsen, but whatever, I got it eventually. ANYWAYS, William asks Izaya about the state of their Instagram accounts, and Izaya is cagey and isn’t sharing much about the state of his social media.

We then get the boys going off to snowboard, and as they get on the lifts its Jobu and William who end up paired together. They have a little back and forth about which guys they sent letters to, and Jobu can’t muster the courage to tell William that he wrote the letter to him. If you’re planning on taking that dick, Jobu, you gotta start mustering that courage now, because if you can’t do it for a letter, that dick is going to break you.

Meanwhile, Hiroya, Bomi, and Huwei are on the ground trying to learn how to snowboard, and once Huwei gets the hang of it you can just see Hiroya’s bottom eyes following him on the snow. I thought this was happening while Jobu and William were on the ski lift because of the way it’s edited, but I figure out that this is after the lifts. The whole gang’s there! After some time on the snow, William asks Izaya to join him on the ski lift elsewhere on the slope and he shares how he didn’t expect Izaya to be part of the show. The two get to talking and we find out that it’s been two and a half years since the two of them have talked to each other, and Izaya thinks that it must mean something that they’re meeting again now. Izaya wants to talk.

Opening credits time!

Meanwhile, Huwei, Bomi, and Hiroya are hanging out together and Huwei is using some time of machine on Bomi? Seems like it’s a massage or therapy thing, because Bomi apparently sprained his finger on the slope. Hiroya also sprained himself and I guess he’s next in line for Huwei’s machine. I mean my fingers hurt too, Huwei, when do I get a turn? Hiroya’s maybe starting to realize that he’s feeling something for Huwei, but I get the feeling that he’s going to be the Gensei of this season and get his heart broken.

Back at the Green Room, some of the guys start talking about what type of guys they’re into, with Hiroya saying he likes normal guys, while Huwei is into pretty faces. He likes them femboys. And then he feeds Hiroya this long ass piece of pasta and BOY. Hiroya was like AHHHHH taking all of Huwei’s bore worm it in.

Also, such a top move to order Hiroya to “Look up. Say, ‘ah.’ Here it comes.” Like if that line isn’t perfect for a porno I don’t know what is.

The boys ear dinner and Jobu shares some of his turn-offs when it comes to guys, because Hiroya and him talked about it earlier, and I dunno, his whole thing about a boyfriend who wants to work in a foreign country and then leaving the decision up to him seemed pretty pointed. At Izaya. Because William did go to Spain and he went to Australia. Does Jobu know?

William then says that he hates reckless driving, and Izaya volunteers the information that he’s a speed demon. He did not like it when Izaya sped off on the snowmobile with him in the back. William then says that the way one drives reveals their personality and how they are in bed and then I start thinking “What about the virgins who can’t drive?”

William then shares that his ex who drove recklessly was rough in bed, and then Hiroya asks Izaya “How about you?” AND THEN IZAYA SAYS ONLY THE PEOPLE I SLEEP WITH KNOW HOW I FUCK. I mean, he said it more politely but that’s what he said, essentially!

I think this next scene happens the next day, and it’s the boys getting told that the coffee truck business starts the next day. Time for me to start logging how much they earn again, because I was obsessed with that detail during the first season. We get to see the guys getting their coffee stuff and preparing what they need, and then William and Izaya start flirting with each other and Job is very aware.

The guys are also very aware of how important picking the partner is for the coffee truck, because the rest of the guys are going to have their own interpretations of their choices, as they definitely saw in season one. And speaking of season one, the guys start taking about their favorites and wouldn’t you know it, William likes Kazuto. Both Jobu and Hiroya liked Taeheon, and as much as I’ve tried to avoid spoilers, I did see on social media that Taeheon returns to the Green Room. I wonder how that’s going to change the dynamic? Huwei is also on the Taeheon train and I cannot wait for the episode when Taeheon comes back. Huwei says that he likes Taeheon and Shun because they seem like “princess-types”, and I had to google it to find out that what they mean by this is a himedere type, someone who basically wants to be worshiped but as the relationship gets deeper they start being deeply affectionate to the other person. I am getting the feeling that Huwei is a service top.

Kazuyuki finally gets some screen time, and it’s because Jobu can’t stop playing with his hair. But that’s about it. Alas, this is the fate of the 40+ year old in the gay world.

The next day, the guys get to see their nameplates, which means that it’s time for their first coffee truck shift. Bomi is the first shift leader and he gets to pick who he’ll work with today, and he picks…Huwei! I mean, was it a surprise to anyone? Like he said in the previous episode, they were already sending each other DMs.

Bomi and Huwei’s shift starts, and their first customers are two Chinese tourists and Huwei swoops in and talks to them in Chinese. Damn, Bomi, Huwei is a catch. And he likes himedere types so you don’t even have to be overly nice to him at first! They get even more Chinese customers and they do this cute celebration thing inside the coffee truck and Bomi is doing his best femboy and I don’t blame him! They end up making ¥6,850, which is P2,635 in current exchange rates. Let’s see how the other’s fare in the coming episodes!

Back at the Green Room, the guys are speculating about Bomi and Huwei and who has feelings for whom, and William thinks Bomi had feelings for Huwei that Huwei didn’t reciprocate. There’s silence and a meaningful focus on Izaya by the camera. Are we going to get the backstory in this episode or will it unravel throughout the season? Some of you probably already know but I’m still catching up!

As for Bomi and Huwei themselves? They’re talking about their ~views on love~ and Huwei says he wants someone who doesn’t run away from deep conversations, and Bomi of course says he’s down for that. Of course, Hiroya isn’t going to just let Bomi win this and brings out a 3D-printed vase once Bomi and Huwei return. He brought a 3D printer with him!

The rest of the guys are gossiping, though, saying that Bomi and Huwei look different after the shift. And fucking Hiroya is curious about what happened in the truck but can’t bring himself to ask about it. I already know Hiroya isn’t going to get anything this season. He’s just going to get his heart broken.

It’s Jobu who gets to lead the next shift, and of course he picks William and Izaya has got that fake smile on his face as he claps. I am LIVING. Izaya says he didn’t see that coming and I am like…GIRL. You’re lying to yourself. Izaya even says that he didn’t think William expected it either and…GIRL. GIRL. He is plucked.

William and Jobu get a lot of customers, and they panic and even have one of the customers put on the lid herself since their bus is leaving. Even then, they only earn ¥6,850, ¥400 less than Bomi and Huwei. Put your backs into it!

Back at the Green Room, the guys decide to build a snow dome to pass the time. It’s all Izaya’s idea, and while he pitches it as a ~fun group activity~, it’s all so he can have a private place to tell William that he wants to get plowed a serious relationship and not a half-hearted one this time around. Girl, William’s dick is going to split you in half.

Over at wherever William and Jobu are, it does seem like Izaya was right! William didn’t expect to be picked. But Jobu is making sure that William knows that he likes him and has liked him since he sent that letter in the first episode. William doesn’t exactly reciprocate, but looks are shared.

Back at the Green Room, Izaya asks how the shift went and maybe I’m just overanalyzing but Izaya is tense. It’s broken though by the reveal of the snow dome and the appearance of a deer! An actual deer!

We then get a bit of the William and Izaya backstory. They first met NINE YEARS AGO. DAMN. They reconnected three years ago and went out with each other for three months. Or at least that’s how Izaya remembers it because William? HAS NO RECOLLECTION. Fuck. William says the two of them only met four times at most, while Izaya says they met each other once a week for three months. Fuck.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
