Ron Watches Drag Race Mexico Latina Royale Episode 1

I think it’s been two years since the last season of Drag Race Mexico? I actually think that’s a pretty healthy interval between seasons, but in today’s fast-paced media landscape it does kinda mean being forgotten. But they’ve certainly made a splash coming back with Latina Royale!

Mariana Stars is the first queen to enter, and I only started to remember her as part of season four of Drag Race España when she started talking because that voice is distinctive.

She’s followed by Horacio Potasio, who was part of the top four in season two of Drag Race Mexico. She looks stunning. She’s followed by Desirée Beck, who I do not know at all. She’s from the second season of Drag Race Brazil, and unfortunately, I did not watch either season of that franchise.

The fourth queen to enter is Eva Blunt, also from season two and actually one of my faves! Unfortunately, she didn’t win her season, but maybe this is where she finally takes the crown! Barbie Q from Drag Race Germany follows Evan Blunt, and again, she is from another franchise I did not watch.

And I guess this is Drag Race Mexico season two’s revenge because we get another queen from that season, namely Elektra Vandergeld, and she is cunt. I love that entrance look. She’s then followed by Miss Abby OMG from Drag Race Holland season one, and OMG it’s been a long time since that aired. I watched that, and she has definitely had some work done because those lips.

The next queen to walk in is Xunami Muse, who is just looking delicious. I hope her Snatch Game is better this time around! Then we get Regina Voce all the way back to the first season of Drag Race Mexico and that wig. Now that is 40 inches. And then we get Matraka, also from season one, and the crush I had on her? Damn. She’s still hot as ever.

And of course, the last queen to enter is Alexis Mateo, and just like she says in the confessional, she doesn’t really need an introduction.

Lolita and Taiga then finally make an appearance and tell the queens that they should get to know each other in the Werk Room. I thought they’d also announce the challenge for the week, but I guess I thought wrong. They do announce the mini challenge after the queens get into boy clothes, and the mini challenge is literally snatching wigs. It’s a fun mini challenge, and Matraka wins M$18,000!

They’re then told that the Maxi Challenge is going to be a ball where they have to come up with three looks: one inspired by a carnival instrument, a carnival mask look, and a carnival queen look. They’re also told that it’s going to be them deciding who stays and who leaves, but I’d like to have more detail on how that’s going to be done.

As they prepare for the ball, Xunami and Alexis talk about the immigration situation in the United States, and boy, that place really is fucked up. It is kinda weird that the discussion felt kinda short, or maybe I’m just feeling that way because the discussions in Drag Race France felt a little too long?

We get to the runway, and there are a lot of great looks. Matraka, Eva, and Xunami’s carnival mask looks are particularly great for me. We then get an explanation for the lottery cards thing this season, and I gotta admit… I didn’t quite understand it! But I’m guessing I will once it’s actually implemented. Lolita then tells Abby OMG, Matraka, Alexis Mateo, Regina Voce, and Horacio Potasio that they are safe.

It’s clear after the critiques that Elektra, Eva, and Xunami are the top queens, with Elektra and Eva eventually being named the top two. I thought there was going to be a new twist, but it just turns out it’s the lipstick thing we’ve already seen. Elektra and Eva need to pick which one between Mariana and Desirée they’re sending back home.

And just like the other franchises where this has been introduced, deals immediately become part of the conversation. Elektra and Mariana look to be in an alliance, or at least are hinting at it, but there’s nothing definite. We then get to the lip sync, and I thought it was a pretty close fight until the latter half of the song, when Elektra just raced past Eva. She wins the lip sync and sends no one home because Lolita and Taiga decide it’s a double shantay day today. Okay!

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
