Ron Watches The Boyfriend Season 2 Episode 12

I know, I know, it’s literally been more than a month since I watched an episode. Life has been busy, okay! And I don’t earn from this blog, so I need to do things that allow me to eat food. Anyways, the previous episode surprised me when it revealed that Taeheon and Jobu would be going to Sapporo with Huwei and Bomi. What’s going to happen now?

There’s not even a stop at the Green Room; we immediately see the coffee truck heading to Sapporo with Bomi, Huwei, Jobu, and Taeheon. Four homosexuals? My goodness. And people recognize Taeheon in Sapporo! One fujoshi (I assume) starts it and then all the other fujos follow. Taeheon asks Jobu what he should do when he gets approached by fujos. The two of them misunderstand each other, and before they can get their bearings, Bomi sprays hot water on Taeheon. Unintentionally.

We then get some Indonesian tourists who speak English, which in turn has Huwei and Taeheon speaking in English and Bahasa Indonesia, and I know this is not the most politically correct thing to say, but Huwei has that gay voice, for real.

And then Bomi starts speaking Korean, and I’m like, HOW MANY LANGUAGES DO THESE MEN SPEAK?

This coffee shift is also very different from the first time that Jobu and Taeheon were on duty, maybe because Jobu put his lucky underwear on. And then they end up earning ¥24,100, which I think is the biggest ever in the history of both seasons!

Meanwhile, the guys at the Green Room are wondering what’s happening in Sapporo. Hiroya is also sharing with Tomoaki that he’s got a lot of prejudice about gay culture, which would already have me raising my eyebrows, to be honest. And then he goes on this…well, it isn’t a rant, but he lists down all these stereotypes about gay areas, and here I was thinking Hiroya was better than this. I was rooting for you!

Things get really uncomfortable after that, because Tomoaki correctly points out that Hiroya’s whole spiel or whatever was probably the same way Tomoaki’s parents thought of gay people. And good on Tomoaki for pushing back because Hiroya realizes that he’s upset Tomoaki, even unintentionally. Hiroya apologizes, but I don’t think Tomoaki’s ready to forgive just yet.

Opening credits time!

In Sapporo, things are much more pleasant with Taeheon and Jobu, who are having dinner and reminiscing about that disastrous first shift. Or at least, disastrous in Jobu’s eyes, because Taeheon says it just felt normal to him. Not fun, mind you, but not disastrous. He got the impression that Jobu wasn’t a yapper, which isn’t really the case because we’ve seen Jobu being a yapper. Taeheon also told Jobu that the reason he picked him for this trip was because Jobu seemed to get along well with everyone, seeing as he got emotional when William and Izaya and Kazuyuki left. In the confessionals, Taeheon further explains that he was only really focused on Jobu and Hiroya, and it didn’t seem like Hiroya needed him anyway.

Huwei and Bomi are also having dinner in a different restaurant, and Bomi is laser-focused because he immediately asks what kind of life Huwei would want with a boyfriend. Bomi is forthright about wanting to live together with whoever his boyfriend is going to be, as well as introducing that boyfriend to his mom. The mom who wants him to change his gayness, by the way. Their dessert arrives, and Huwei excuses himself to bring two mugs he’s handpainted for Bomi. Oh Bomi, take him to the restaurant toilets and suck his soul out there.

Back in the Green Room, Tomoaki, Hiroya, and Ryuki are having dinner, and it is tense. Maybe not for Ryuki, who I think is oblivious to the whole situation, but Hiroya and Tomoaki are certainly not ~gelling~. Will they resolve their misunderstanding in this episode, or are they going to leave the Green Room with this hanging over their heads?

While that tension is hanging over the Green Room, a different kind of tension is happening in Sapporo, as the guys head to the hotel where they’re staying. Huwei and Bomi are looking everywhere else but each other while they bounce on their separate beds, while Taeheon and Jobu talk relationships as they drink wine. Jobu then lays his head on Taeheon’s lap, and you know what else is on Taeheon’s lap? His cock. And then Taeheon asks to lay his head on Jobu’s lap, and you know what else is on Jobu’s lap? His cock.

The next morning, Huwei is on top of Bomi, giving him a massage. I don’t know if that means Bomi’s hole got wrecked, but I would appreciate a hulking Thai-Japanese man on top of me giving me a back massage because back pain? I have it. Meanwhile, Jobu wakes up and goes under the blankets with Taeheon. These filthy, filthy homosexuals. I want more.

The three guys left at the Green Room are definitely not having any sort of canoodling. Tomoaki is still keeping his distance from Hiroya, who is in the gym working out with Ryuki and talking about what determines their ~types~. Ryuki’s type? Muscles. Specifically, baseball players. Can’t blame him! I’ve seen Shohei Otani!

Later that night, the four guys who went to Sapporo arrive at a Green Room that is still tense. The Sapporo guys share that they made ¥24,100, and Tomoaki has the perfect response when the three of them are asked what they did in the Green Room. “We did eight times less than you can imagine.” I laughed. Although, as the panel points out, Jobu might be feeling the tension.

Elsewhere in the Green Room, Bomi tells Huwei he’ll be gone for a week, and after flicking Bomi’s nipple, Huwei goes for a bit of cuteness and hugs Bomi while telling him he’s going to miss him. And again, as the panel points out, there was a perfect opportunity for the two of them to kiss, but they didn’t grab it. Oh well.

In the kitchen, Tomoaki tells Jobu what happened while they were away, calling the past couple of days “the worst”. Meanwhile, Hiroya is telling Ryuki, Bomi, Huwei, and Taeheon in the other room that he and Tomoaki had an argument, and it’s funny that Ryuki had no idea all along. Stop looking at baseball players’ butts!

To be fair to Hiroya, he really does want to fix things with Tomoaki, but he doesn’t know what to do anymore. The other guys give him advice, but, as he said, if Tomoaki doesn’t want to talk to begin with, nothing’s going to change. Tomoaki is also getting some advice from Jobu, who vouches for Hiroya’s personality and tells Tomoaki to try talking with him again.

The next day, Ryuki has gone off to university, just like Bomi, so that’s two less people in the house. Tomoaki also goes out for a morning walk to maybe think things through, but he’s still at the house by the time everybody’s gathered in the living room. And then he apologizes to Hiroya for being a Negative Nancy, so to speak, and boy do I sound like a white person using Negative Nancy, I hate it. But Hiroya accepts the apology and also apologizes for what he said.

Tomoaki and Hiroya have a further conversation…elsewhere. This definitely isn’t in the Green Room. Hiroya admits to his prejudices, and also shares that he’s gone to the Green Room precisely to open up his mind more. And in a way, so did Tomoaki when he first entered the Green Room.

The next day, it’s Jobu that Hiroya picks a fight with as he utilizes the bowling date that Old Man Kazuyuki left with him to ask Taeheon out. Meanwhile, Huwei, Jobu, and Tomoaki all decide to do the coffee shift together. Wonder how things are going to turn out!

First off, Hiroya and Taeheon. So, I misunderstood because I thought that they would be bowling. Hiroya takes Taeheon to the Kushiro City Museum, and it looks like Hiroya knows his stuff! And Taeheon even tells him that he’s wanted to talk to him one-on-one, so this day is just looking good for him. Taeheon tells him that it was really difficult to pick between him and Jobu, and if somebody told me that, I’d be so happy. Or does that mean my standards are low? I don’t know! Maybe Hiroya and I both have low standards, because he thought that was a good thing as well.

Elsewhere, the coffee truck boys are about to start their shift, but Huwei suddenly has to leave for Thailand because his grandmother passed away. My goodness. He doesn’t tell the rest of the guys why he has to leave for Thailand, so I guess that’s why Jobu is worrying about Taeheon having a better date with Hiroya than with him. And maybe he does have reason to worry, because Taeheon and Hiroya pull a prank on Jobu that I found funny, although mostly because Jobu didn’t react as big as they wanted. And then Taeheon burns his hand on the pot while they’re eating dinner and Hiroya’s attentive and then Jobu’s face. I was evil duck laughing.

Bomi also comes back to a letter from Huwei telling him that he misses his face, but I’m still laughing at Jobu’s face. I’m sorry!

The next day, the five guys remaining are told to group themselves into two, and three people and then go on an outing. Both Jobu and Hiroya say they want to go with Taeheon, and if I were Taeheon, I’d be a messy bitch and say I’m going on an outing with both of them.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
