Ron Watches The Boyfriend Season 2 Episode 13

We got a cliffhanger with the previous episode as we waited for Taeheon to make his decision between Jobu and Hiroya. Who is he going to pick? Let’s find out!

It’s Jobu! At last, after 12 episodes, something finally goes his way. I’m not evil duck laughing at him now! Now going out as a trio are Bomi, Hiroya, and Tomoaki. At least Hiroya and Tomoaki are on speaking terms now.

Opening credits time!

The trio are going on a ranch experience, and maybe it’s because I’m old and don’t have the patience for it, but that is not my idea of a fun time. The trio looks like they’re having fun, though, especially when Tomoaki has difficulty feeding a cow.

Meanwhile, Taeheon and Jobu are at a lake taking photos, and Taeheon even tells Jobu that he’s happy they’re doing this. But Jobu shouldn’t be complacent, because in the confessionals, Taeheon says he chose him because he wanted to see if the feelings he was…uh…feeling for Jobu were real. Over lunch, Jobu brings up their disastrous first coffee truck shift, and maybe it’s just me, but I’d shut up about that. Even Durian agrees with me!

Taeheon then asks what advice Jobu’s mother gave him when they met up, because that’s when Taeheon started wanting to get to know Jobu more. Mother knows best, truly! Taeheon said that if Jobu’s mom was willing to go all the way here to bring him food, then Jobu must be a kind person. Jobu, if you don’t buy your mom somethign fancy for her birthday, I’ll hunt you down myself.

While that’s happening, the trio are at a mountain visiting…I have no idea what those things are. They’re blowing some kind of smoke, which doesn’t seem poisonous, because the guys are all up in it. They then get some snacks at what I assume is a viewing deck, and then talk about what they’re looking forward to in the week they have left. Bomi, of course, is looking forward to meeting up with Huwei, while Hiroya plans to tell Taeheon how he really feels and to ask for a response. Hopefully, it ends better than when he did the same to Huwei in episode six. Getting told you’re not even on the list of prospective people Huwei likes? Crushing.

From the looks of Jobu and Taeheon’s date, it looks like Hiroya is going to get crushed once again, and not in a kinky sexy way. It looks like the two of them are staying overnight at this beautiful accommodation and now they’re even in the sauna together. And then Taeheon pulling Jobu to sit between his legs. It is done for you, Hiroya. Pack your bags. Leave the Green Room.

I do think that Jobu is laying on the admiration a little too thick for my taste. Once they’re at a restaurant eating, he tells Taeheon that he’s always wanted to talk to him since watching season one, and now he can’t believe they’re actually face-to-face with one another. It all sounds like he’s being a fan boy and not a partner, if that makes sense? Which I don’t find attractive, but maybe Taeheon does. When the discussion moves back to their accommodation, Taeheon asks if he’s similar to William, and maybe this is me being a Debbie Downer, but maybe Taeheon is worried he’s just a William replacement. And I am a Debbie Downer because Taeheon and Jobu immediately prove me wrong by making out under the covers of a very spacious bed. There was a lot of space for them to not make out, but they sure acted like they were on a single bed!

The next morning, Jobu is all giggles, even if they didn’t go ~all the way~ as Jobu admits in the confessional. Taeheon tells Jobu over breakfast that he’s realized what kind of person Jobu is, which I wouldn’t be worried about if it weren’t for the inscrutable expression he has on his face. Sorry, I just always expect the worst.

Jobu and Taeheon make it back to the Green Room, and wouldn’t you know it, Hiroya is the one leading today’s coffee truck shift. He’s already said that he’s going to tell Taeheon how he feels, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he picks Taeheon as his co-worker. BUT THEN HE PICKS JOBU. Well, well, well!

Their coffee truck shift ends with ¥6,650 in sales, which is quite high this season if it weren’t for the numbers that Huwei, Bomi, Taeheon, and Jobu pulled in Sapporo. Jobu and Hiroya then have ramen and what I felt was a little aggressive conversation? At least on Jobu’s side? Or maybe he’s just energetic. He explains to Hiroya that he doesn’t really say “I like you” to another guy unless it’s getting really serious, but this time around with Taeheon, he might just say it. To his credit, Hiroya doesn’t lie when Jobu asks him what his plans are and tells him that he’s going to tell Taeheon that he likes him.

Back in the Green Room, Jobu is playing Othello with Taeheon, and boy, does that take me back. Back to when mobile phones weren’t a thing, and you had to entertain yourself with board games. The two make a bet: If Jobu wins, Taeheon will grant his wish, if Taeheon wins, he can make a wish. Jobu ends up winning, and while he threatens Taeheon with the prospect of a ~spicy wish~, all he asks for is for Taeheon to eat his cooking. I was definitely expecting something more!

The next day, known baseball player fetishist Ryuki returns from university with a new haircut and looking ~more mature~ according to Hiroya. Maybe because he’s been railed by the baseball team? And then Huwei walks in, and I wouldn’t blame Ryuki if he goes after him because he does have that physique that he likes. And then Huwei says out loud that he wants Ryuki to try a little bite out of the souvenir he brought? Oh, Ryuki’s hole is fluttering. Bomi’s hole? Shut tight.

The souvenir Huwei’s brought back is durian, and he wants Ryuki to try it precisely because Ryuki said he hates it. The durian immediately splits the group, because Huwei, Hiroya, and Taeheon have no problem eating it, while the rest just cannot. Ryuki is then told that he’s the shift lead today, and he picks Taeheon as his partner. Ryuki has said he likes older guys, and there’s more than 10 years age difference between the two of them. Or at least I think I heard him say he likes older guys. Not really sure!

Once Ryuki and Taeheon leave, Bomi is immediately right beside Huwei and showing him what they did in the previous week. And maybe Bomi didn’t mind Huwei bringing Ryuki a souvenir, because they look so cute looking at pictures of the past week, and Huwei even smoothly sneaks in an “I miss you” in the conversation. But then Bomi admits in the confessional that the durian did give him mixed feelings, and I smile but do not quite do the evil duck laugh.

Taeheon and Ryuki end their shift with ¥6,400, and then we find out why Ryuki picked Taeheon for this shift. He wanted some coming-out advice, and Taeheon doesn’t sugarcoat things, saying that he thought about giving up a lot. But his first experience in the Green Room really helped him out since he now knows that he’s not alone. I hope everything turns out well for Ryuki!

The next day, Jobu is cooking whatever it is he’s making for Taeheon, and Hiroya’s kinda getting the feeling that maybe he’s lost the war before he’s even fought the battle. Jobu’s made Taeheon lasagna, and as someone who loves lasagna, my hole would have been open. I love lasagna. Even the cheap and definitely not authentic ones they serve at Greenwich. Taeheon then tells Jobu “Otsukare” before eating, and you know what that means!

With lasagna in their stomachs and a nice fire going, Jobu summons up the courage to tell Taeheon that he likes him, and while Taeheon’s face remains inscrutable, at least to me, his verbal response is definitely crystal clear. While he wants to get to know Jobu better, he points out that Jobu didn’t want to talk about certain things during the last time they were together. They’re attracted to each other, yes, but for Taeheon, that’s not enough reason to move on to the next level. Fair! And it’s not an outright no, either!

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
