Ron Watches Daemons of the Shadow Realm Episode 4

At the end of the previous episode, Yuru finally learned how to use a modern toilet. What wonders await him in this latest episode? Let’s find out!

We start off this fourth episode with Yuru discovering what it’s like to live in an apartment! He’s amazed that there’s actual tatami in the bedroom for him, and we also get introduced to Hana’s Daemons, which are in the form of a dog and a cat. Also, Hana’s got a mountain? Damn.

Elsewhere in Japan, Asa is trying to hone her power so that she just doesn’t blast it at people. We also meet…I guess a big person within the Kagemori clan? He tells Asa to stay with Gabby while she recuperates, as there are people even within the Kagemori clan that want her for themselves, especially now that Yuru has also come down from the mountain. Jin will be the one to look for Yuru instead.

Back at Hana’s place, Yuru already has the basics of a plan on how to find his sister — look for a place that has lots of Daemons and smells like his blood. Easy! However, I thought this would be a multi-episode thing, I didn’t expect Left and Right to immediately jet off with Yuru to look for a place that fits the description.

The first place they arrive at is a parking lot, I think? Jin of the Kagemori clan is there, and what looks like Asa. Yuru can’t help but react to it, and we find out that Jin’s angler fish Daemon is old, according to Left and Right. Jin tricked them by having a test tube of Asa’s blood with him.

Meanwhile, Hana and Dera are panicking since Yuru went out with a knife on him, which is against the law in Japan. Even worse, Yuru still doesn’t have health insurance, which means they’ll have to foot 100 percent of the medical bills if he’s ever hospitalized. And my goodness is that ever a relatable fear. Hana uses Kotestu and Jiro — her cat and dog Daemons, respectively — to look for Yuru, and it turns out he’s ALL THE WAY IN TOKYO, which seems to be very far from the fictional Guntama prefecture.

Back in Tokyo, Left and Right are planning their move, as it’s not just Jin’s Scavenger Daemon that’s in the parking lot. They decide to face the Jin and the minions head on, instructing Yuru to stay where he is because that puts the Scavenger Daemon out of the fight. We find out that most conventional weapons like guns and swords don’t work on Left and Right, but the Daemons that the minions have do keep them at bay. But thanks to smart thinking from Yuru, the three of them manage to escape.

Or maybe not escape, but counterattack. Yuru manages to wound Jin in the dark and hold him hostage, and Left tells the Kagemori minions that Yuru’s hunting ground is the darkness. Interesting. So does that make the light Asa’s hunting ground? We might find out in the next episode, as Yuru tells Jin that he wants Asa to meet him right now.
