Ron Watches The Boyfriend Season 2 Episode 15

It’s the final episode, and it looks like Jobu and Taeheon might not even end up together, if the events from the previous episode are anything to go by. Let’s get into it!

It is not looking good for Jobu as Taeheon is on full sulk mode and turned off all the lights on him without even talking. I am a sulker and I know when a sulk is a ~good one~ and boy does Taeheon sulk. Jobu better grovel because I am on Taeheon’s side on this. He told you to open up!

And good on Jobu because he does open up, even in the dark. When Jobu talks about how he felt when people were sharing their coming out stories, it’s straightforward, it’s heartfelt, and if you think about it, totally understandable for him to feel that way. Which is why I can understand Taeheon’s frustration because why couldn’t Jobu just say that? It’s not like they’re still strangers.

The next morning, the two of them are affectionate, and in the confessionals, Jobu expresses his wish of continuing to get to know Taeheon even outside of the Green Room.

Opening credits time!

The boys are told that the Sapporo trip will end with a dinner, and that they need to dress up for it. And they do clean up very well! And William and Izaya show up! Old Man Kazuyuki also shows up!

William and Izaya share that they’re still fighting and still getting along, and that they’re planning on splitting the time between Spain and Australia. Kazuyuki’s ex also wanted to get back together, which is great! The returning trio also share that they didn’t think they’d miss the Green Room and the other guys so much.

Now, it’s the other guys’ turn to talk, and Jobu finally opens up that his bad breakup with his ex just made it hard to open up with other people anymore. He then says that after his time in the Green Room, he wants someone to know him again, and I guess the returning trio would be the only ones who don’t know who he’s talking about. But as usual, Taeheon’s face is inscrutable.

After giving the trio their hoodies, the guys go back to the Green Room, and now it’s time for Bomi to make his move. The two of them go on a walk, passing by places where they had their first date in episode five. They finally sit down, and when Bomi asks Huwei about the past two months, Huwei doesn’t immediately respond. So Bomi swoops in and shares when he started noticing Huwei, when his feelings started to grow. Eventually, Huwei shares his side of the story, but I guess Bomi really just has a lot to say, because he then shares that hearing about Huwei coming out to his mom in episode 11 made him want to stay by his side. And then he finally pops the question to Huwei about being boyfriends and Huwei says yes! It’s a moment that’s tinged with melancholy, because I think Huwei is already thinking ahead to how it’s going to be difficult to do this with his mom in the picture, but he’s at least will to go through it together with Bomi. I teared up when Bomi started crying!

The next day, the guys are packing up to leave the Green Room, and they have one last talk in the living room. Tomoaki’s already crying! Jobu and Taeheon are first to speak up, and there’s no outright declaration of them being together. That isn’t the case for Bomi and Huwei, as Bomi tearfully tells the gathered guys that he and Huwei are already a couple. Huwei says that hearing Bomi tell him that he’s more excited about what waits for the two of them outside than what happened in the Green Room is what really made him want to be with Bomi, and that he’s ready to face whatever it is outside with Bomi. And they’re also the first to leave the Green Room this episode!

The guys say their goodbyes to Bomi and Huwei and I’m crying. Tomoaki is the next to leave, and things get clarified for me because I thought he already came out to his parents by letter. Turns out, he got inspired by the other guys to come out, and he’s doing it via the letter he wrote. Got it. And my goodness, is it a heartbreaking letter. Even the panel is crying. I hope things end well for Tomoaki outside.

Ryuki’s up next. Just like a lot of the cast this year, Ryuki went through a bad break-up, but spending time in the Green Room with the rest of the guys kinda restored his faith in humanity, so to speak. He also talked about how Jobu and Hiroya’s positive experiences with coming out gave him that push to want to come out as well, even if the outcome with his dad isn’t guaranteed to be a good one.

Hiroya is the next one to leave, which just tells me that it’s going to be a happy ending for Jobu and Taeheon, because that would make for a good ending to the show. Just saying! It would be a big letdown if they end this with a rejection. Hiroya says that his time here has helped him be honest with his feelings, which is good! He also tells Jobu and Taeheon that whatever the outcome is between the two of them, Hiroya will be there by their side.

Now it’s just Taeheon and Jobu left in the Green Room, and it is tense. Taeheon is the first to speak up, and he admits that he was guarded around Jobu because he was too much of a fanboy and he was afraid he might disappoint him. That said, it didn’t stop him from looking for Jobu through the days they spent together. Even if there were things like Jobu being too focused on joking around during the Sapporo trip, Taeheon still looked for him. And even if he still feels like they didn’t get to talk talk during their time in the Green Room, Taeheon still finds himself wanting to get to know Jobu. Honestly, this whole speech was a carrot-stick approach and I applaud Jobu for listening to the entirety of it looking calm. I would have been a nervous wreck. But Taeheon does finally come out with it and tells Jobu that he likes him! Another great season!
