I am mostly on time for this! Let’s get it!
We saw Yuru ask for Asa at the end of the previous episode, but will the Kagemoris just let her meet him like that? And I guess they kinda do? Jin tells him to come to the Kagemori manor rather than have Asa travel there, but Yuru isn’t dumb. He just recently learned to use modern toilets, but he’s not dumb. He’s not about to walk into a bear’s den, so he insists that Asa be the one to come here. In a Tokyo parking lot. Yuru also tells Jin that he didn’t cut him with the intent to kill, because he could tell that Jin wasn’t trying to kill him. He’d have attacked differently if Jin was attacking to kill as well.
However, it’s this same non-killing intent (?) that convinces Yuru to go with Jin to the Kagemori manor. And also the fact that Left and Right are outnumbered by the Daemons that the Kagemoris have – the Tortoise, the Hare, and a Daemon so big it couldn’t fit in the parking lot. We get some comedic moments with the Daemons as the Kagemoris clean up the parking lot, and I wish I knew how people screencap from Netflix, because the comedy is visual.
Asa’s told that Yuru is headed to the manor, and now she wants to look good for her brother. The head Kagemori or whatever also wants to meet Yuru, as soon as he finishes his time at a hot spring, which is actually heated by a huge Daemon. Things really are moving fast!
Just like the mountain village of the Higashis, the Kagemori manor is also hidden behind a barrier, I guess so that other Daemon wielders don’t notice them? Jiro, Hana’s dog Daemon, manages to follow until the barrier, and Kotetsu shows her and Dera that Yuru is now inside the Kagemori complex. Now Dera has to pick up Yuru. Will it be a battle? I doubt Dera can take on all of the Kagemoris in the complex.
In the complex, we met Asuma, who I am already expecting to be an antagonist because he just has that look. But we’ll have to get back to that as Yuru and Asa have an awkward reunion, with Asa more intent on establishing a connection and Yuru more wary about it. Especially since the image he has of Asa in his mind is that of a cute girl who isn’t as tall as he is. It’s Edward Elric’s height complex again.
After a little comedy, Yuru finally gets to ask Asa where their parents are…and Asa doesn’t know either. They vanished while on a plane to Okinawa, along with their Kagemori bodyguard. Asa thinks the bodyguard may have been a Higashi village spy, but it’s not confirmed by the episode. For now. Asa also tells Yuru that assassins from Higashi village kept chasing after them when they were in the city, which is why she trusts the Kagemori over the people from Higashi village.
But maybe Asa was a little too quick to trust, because Daemons that definitely are with the Kagemori suddenly attack them. Or at least I thought they were. Jin says those aren’t Kagemori Daemons, which means that outsiders are inside the manor. And it definitely isn’t Dera, as he isn’t a Daemon wielder. Whose Daemons are these then?
