Ron Does Stuff

I thought was going to catch up, but work has just been killing me, so I am way behind again. But let’s just soldier on and try to catch up!

Margarette bid goodbye in the previous episode, and the queens are mourning her departure as she was “incredibly kind-hearted”, and also because the queens feel they’re at that point in the season where each elimination is going to feel hard. I’d argue they’ve been mourning queens since episode two, but whatever.

The next day, they find out that Margarette left the Golden Baguette to Lana Cotta, so it’s safe to say at this point that the departing queens will be leaving the Golden Baguette to the ones that sent them home. We then get the Nicky Mail, and from the context clues, Daisy correctly guesses that today’s Maxi Challenge is going to be Snatch Game.

But before we get to Snatch Game, there’s a mini challenge where the queens have to paint Nicky. Will this have any bearing on the Snatch Game, or have an actual prize attached to it? And you know what, it has bearing on life outside Drag Race France, as an advocacy group will auction it to raise funds!

Nicky finally announces that Snatch Game is the Maxi Challenge, and once the queens start preparing for it, Sublyme admits that she doesn’t know how to do it and that it’s kind of a phobia of hers. I think it’s too obvious if she’s the one sent home, so I’m guessing she’s going to unexpectedly kill it.

This time around, I’m going to take notes as to who’s playing who, because I sometimes mess things up with these international editions. Holly White is playing Mariah Carey, while Daisy is doing Jacques Chirac. Could be great but could also stink!

Fluffy Bidule is doing Marianne James, La Harpie is doing Lara Fabian, and Lana Cotta’s doing Celine Dion. This is also where I learn that there’s a rivalry between Lara Fabian and Celine Dion? Huh.

Azémylia is doing Fauve Hautot, while Sublyme picks Franck Ribéry for Snatch Game. Sublyme is at least honest to Nicky and tells her that her Snatch Game is probably going to suck. I don’t know who Franck Ribéry is, so I’m going to trust Nicky when she tells Sublyme that this is a strategically good choice for her.

And I gotta say, I thought this Snatch Game was friendlier to non-French speakers compared to before. I could get some of the jokes even if the subtitles seemed suspect. And the audience finally gets to see Sublyme’s dentures, which the show has been teasing since the second episode! I don’t know about Lana doing that joke about Celine’s condition, though. I mean, I laughed, but I felt really bad afterwards.

The day after, the queens were very complimentary towards Lana’s Celine, although I do think she was also helped along by La Harpie’s Lara Fabian. Again, I did not know there was beef between those two! The queens also talk about chem sex, with Daisy sharing being forced to take chem sex drugs and being assaulted. Sublyme also shared her experience with drugs in general, and those drugs really aren’t good for you!

We then get to the runway, where the queens have to do two reveals. Lana Cotta is up first, and she had wine in her titties. I honestly thought the reveal was meh, but wine poured from her titties. Unfortunately, the rest of the queens also have meh reveals that aren’t aided by wine titties. I did think Daisy did good though.

After the runway, we find out that this is the “Who should go home tonight and why” episode. Fluffy and Sublyme were the most mentioned names, although Azémylia and Holly were also mentioned. Let’s see how things turn out for the queens!

La Harpie is the only safe one this week, and, judging from the critiques, Holly, Azémylia, and Fluffy are the bottom queens. Lana is taking the win, but Daisy might just sneak past and ~snatch~ it from her. Back in the Werk Room, it’s Holly who has the compelling ~monologue~ as she starts to fear that she’s proving the stereotype about older drag queens right.

Lana Cotta takes the win this episode, while Daisy and Sublyme are safe. Meanwhile, left to lip sync are Holly and Azémylia as Lana gives the Golden Baguette to Fluffy. I think the two of them were evenly matched, but Nicky decides to keep Azémylia around.
