Ron Watches Daemons of the Shadow Realm Episode 23

For once, I am actually watching this episode on the day it airs. Let’s get into it!!

We had a cliffhanger at the end of the previous episode as it looked like one of the relics of Akio’s Daemons was set to explode right in front of the Kagemori compound’s infirmary. And as this episode starts, we see that the relic does explode. The question now is whether BunBun survived that explosion.

BunBun survives! However, Akio escapes as the raccoon Daemon let him out of his nutsack to protect his master. Natsuki is also saved by her Daemons, so there wasn’t anyone to keep Akio in place. But we do learn a little about what it was that was controlling the relics — a Daemon that can split off pieces of itself.

Over at the Shingo warehouse, Gonzo and Fuyuki are cleaning up the scene as the rest of the people over that side of Tokyo — I think we’re in Tokyo — prepare to head back to the Kagemori compound. And there’s an extra urgency to them getting back because Gonzo finally gets the call that Akio escaped, and Yuru does not take it well. He gets a fever, although Dera says it’s probably not because of the news of Akio escaping. After all, Yuru spent most of his life in the mountains, and the bacteria down in the city is an entirely new experience for him.

Back in the hideout, Hana tends to Yuru’s gunshot wound, while Ken gets him an ice pillow. Something I did not know existed, but you can apparently buy online here! I’ll think about getting one next summer. ANWAYS, back to this episode, where Hana now has the unenviable task of trying to make their living arrangements work, since Danji and Kiri, the alien Daemons, the girl from Higashi village, and even Oshirashama are making the place their regular hangout. How are they all going to fit?

We get a little bit of comedy over at the hideout before we get back to Akio, who meets…his mom? I have doubts, because of the way they drew her eyes and the foreboding music that comes with her appearance. But she’s not the only new character we’re encountering! And these guys definitely want the Kagemoris and the Higashi village people at each other’s throats. They’ve apparently waited for this for 400 years — and they’re from the West.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
