Ron Watches You Maniac Episode 2

I really liked the first episode of this show! William and Est continue to have great chemistry, so I’m hoping that this show does a better job at using them than their previous one.

The episode opens with Dean watching his own content, which I guess is sorta quality control? He’s also checking out the comments people are leaving, which is basically customer feedback. Ten is also in the house, and Dean promises him he’ll get paid once he gets paid.

We then find out that this happened pre-dinner date arrangement. It’s right after Dean sent his first message, and since Moth didn’t respond, he’s feeling defeated, but he’s also not letting Ten see that it got to him. When Ten tells Dean to send another message, Dean tells him that he doesn’t chase after people; they chase after him.

Dean goes out on a date with somebody else, who at least knows that he’s on this date because Dean doesn’t have anybody else at the moment. Dean tells him that he just wanted to spend time with a friend, which of course offends the guy because he thought that he would at least get to exchange handjobs with Dean or something. He tries to set up another date, but no one’s replying, and when he runs into two people he knows, he can’t hang out with them either because those two are dating each other.

It’s at this moment that we get to see the cliffhanger from the previous episode. Moth calls Dean, and they agree to a double date with Punn and Ten in tow. Moth isn’t exactly personable during this group date, but that doesn’t deter Dean. He puts his hand on Moth’s leg, does the eyebrow thing that I know you guys know, and if someone who looked like William did all that to me? Oh, a dick is getting sucked, or else.

Punn will not be sucking any dick tonight, though, because Moth just asked him to go ahead and go home since he has work the next day. And Moth is cold. You can’t even walk Punn out of the club? It’s not like he’s a stranger. He’s your childhood friend! At least tweak his nipples or something while the two of you are in the bathroom.

Of course, with Punn leaving, Ten chases after him to give him a gift, ostensibly as thanks for taking care of his dog. But he’s a vet, Ten. You already paid him. Probably a lot of money, too! Just say the gift is because you want to be all up in him!

While all of that is happening outside, Dean and Moth are having a flirty back-and-forth that is so much more interesting than all the moping they did back in ThamePo Heart That Skips a Beat. I just was not a fan of that show. And then we get this and I’m screaming.

Moth, apparently, can’t handle this much close contact and leaves. Dean chases after him, calls him out for being a dick, but Moth is unmoved. Dean then gets all up in his face in a move that is half threatening, half sexy, and again, if someone who looked like William did that to me, a dick is getting sucked. I’d do it right there in the bar! Apparently, that move also made Moth stir a little so he goes back into the bar, but he sees Dean flirting with somebody else so now his initial impression of Dean is reinforced.

The next day, Moth buys Punn a chicken breast smoothie, which of course, gets Punn’s hope all up. This is not the way to go, Moth. If you don’t like Punn, don’t lead him on like this. But then again, maybe he doesn’t know Punn likes him. Maybe all of this is just ~things friends do for each other~ in Moth’s mind. And then Moth asks Punn if it’s okay for him to get close with Dean, and my flabbers are gasted. I thought you didn’t like him? Punn tells him it’s all right, since Moth doesn’t plan on getting serious with Dean anyway, and again, my gasted are flabbers. Is this really the move, Punn? It’ll get serious between those two before you become aware of it.

With Punn’s permission acquired, Moth calls Dean, but now it’s Dean’s turn to be coy. He rejects Moth’s first call, and then when he finally takes the call, he tells Moth that he’s not free to meet with him right now. I’m a broken person who would be strung along by gimmicks like this; I’m sorry. I need therapy.

ALSO, there’s a whole product placement here, but I can’t screenshot and upload it here anymore because I’m going to run out of space, and I’m not exactly swimming in cash right now. But know that I unironically love these product placements. I love pointing them out!

ANYWAYS. Dean and Moth meet, and Moth lays down the rules, which basically say that this isn’t a relationship but more of a fuck buddy situation. They don’t outright call it a fuck buddy situation, but come on. We’re all adults here on the internet. Dean sucks that product placement dry, which may be foreshadowing of things to come.

Elsewhere in Bangkok, Ten and Punn ~run into~ each other on a running path and while Ten initially fumbles this ~accidental~ meeting, he manages to get one thing right: let it slip to Punn that Moth is out with Dean on his birthday. Moth never spends his birthday with anybody.

And how is Moth spending his birthday? Playing an arcade game with Dean that the show is trying so hard to make look exciting. I’m sorry, it’s just not working on me. I’m not in the mood right now for this cutesy stuff. I already did that with Heartstopper. And yes, I watched the movie for that one, and I thought it was…okay. Not okay to write about, though.

William picks the next activity for their date, and he decides on an elevator photobooth type of thing? Of course, it’s the well-worn trope of close quarters and two tall guys crammed into it. It’s a classic!

After that activity, Moth takers a look at his IG, and he seems worried that Punn has seen his IG Story with Dean. What is their relationship anyhow, beyond being friends? You already asked for permission from Punn, and he said yes, so I don’t think you should worry about it. Unless there’s something else there?

Whatever’s going on between Moth and Punn is going to be something we deal with later, as Dean succeeds in extending their date even further when Moth tries to ditch it. They go on a boat, and Moth tells him why he spends his birthdays alone. A birthday is an important day, so why not spend it with the most important person in your life: yourself. Kinda agree with Moth here!

Dean says that Moth’s way of celebrating birthdays is kinda lonely, so of course, Moth has to ask Dean how he spends his birthdays. Dean spends his birthdays getting blackout drunk, and Moth hits him with a hard-hitting question: isn’t that lonely? He got you there, buddy!

That conversation is cut short by the arrival of a birthday cake that Dean arranged for Moth, and aside from that, he also got Moth a butterfly bracelet. Should have been a Moth bracelet, but do they even sell those? Butterflies get all the good PR while moths get The Silence of the Lambs.

Of course, when there’s a cake on the scene, there’s going to be cake crumbs on your lips, and an opportunity for the love interest in your life to wipe off said cake crumbs. Moth’s the one to do it to Dean, with a fireworks display in the background to boot. I mean, if after all of this no dick gets sucked? I don’t know what needs to happen.

Dean drops off Moth at his place after that boat date, and Moth asks him if he can really go home now. Dean responds with “Do you really want me to leave?” and I telepathically try to tell Moth to suck Dean’s dick now. Right in the hallway. Dean says he’s only joking, though, and gets on the elevator. Moth doesn’t let that happen, though, and instead makes this happen.
