Anybody who read my posts at the time knows that ThamePo Heart That Skips a Beat wasn’t exactly a favorite of mine. There were parts that I liked, but overall, I thought it was a mixed bag of a show. I did think that William and Est had great chemistry, so I’m hoping that I like this new show better than I did their first pairing!
This episode starts with Est’s character, Moth, saying that some people think that he’s crazy, but that’s not exactly true, according to him. He sure is blunt though, because he tells this woman asking him about abstract paintings that he isn’t into women and to tell her friend that he’s into men — just not him. AND YOU KNOW WHAT I CACKLED.
It turns out that Moth is her because he’s been called there by William’s character, Dean, and then they make out in the bathroom as we go into the end credits. I kinda like this “Red Flag” song!
We then go back to a month before the bathroom make out session, and we see that Dean is a fuckboy who is for the streets. He’s friends with Ten, who is of course the less extroverted one between them. Ten’s got a thing for Punn, who makes an appearance just in time. And, well, Ten’s not exactly charming Punn off of his feet.
Punn is friends with Moth, who has the ~enviable~ problem of being so hot that his artistic talents are not recognized. I sure wish I had that problem. He’s annoyed that people just want to flirt with him, and you know what? I can’t even be annoyed with this First World problem because Est is just hot. It’s your burden to bear, babe. Punn tells him to look over at Dean — I don’t know why — and Dean sees it as a challenge and brings Ten over to that table to flirt. Except Ten’s already left.
The morning after, Dean confronts Ten about the Punn situation and Ten’s really down bad for him. He wants Dean to help him out, but Dean says Punn already has a boyfriend: Moth. But Moth isn’t Punn’s boyfriend, or at least that’s what Ten says. He sure does act like a boyfriend to Moth, though, ordering food for him from Moth’s favorite place.
Ten says that while the two of them aren’t boyfriends, Punn and Moth are childhood friends and Punn’s had a crush on Moth for who knows how long. But as has already been established, the moment anyone flirts with Moth or confesses their feelings, they get cut off, and Punn doesn’t want that to happen. It’s at this point that Ten has his ~brilliant idea~. He’ll pursue Punn, but Dean has to pursue Moth.
However, doing that is definitely going to be difficult because Moth is currently being propositioned by an author and my first question is how can an author afford this fancy dinner do they pay writers differently in Bangkok? Of course, Moth dumps the guy, even if it’s a collaboration he’s always wanted to do.
After that disaster, Moth decides to go out and have a drink that night, asking Punn if he wants to come with, but Punn has a wedding he has to go to — that he would have left early because my goodness, Punn, don’t be a doormat — so Moth ends up going alone. And guess who walks in and sees him? Dean. Dean, who has agreed to Ten’s plan because Ten questioned his flirting skills. If Dean can’t win Moth over, then maybe he’s not as good as he thinks he is.
Dean gets to work, and I gotta say it’s refreshing for me to see William this way because I wasn’t exactly a big Thame enthusiast. And I like the banter more here than I did with ThamePo. Sorry to anybody else who liked ThamePo, but I really wasn’t a big fan.
Turns out that Moth has already been briefed by Punn about Dean’s fuckboy ways, but seeing him at work is an entirely different experience. They then run into each other in the bathroom and Dean lays it on thick.
And then Dean asks Moth if he can hit on him and you go girl. Consent is sexy and all that! And Moth consents. Oh this is exciting. After adding Dean to his Instagram, he tells Dean “If you dare, you can try”, as if that would deter someone like Dean. You practically spread your hole for him with that one. Does Moth knows what he’s getting into? Because the show just…uh…showed us that Dean has no problem dumping people who think that what transpired between the two of them was anything more than a fling.
Dean is definitely determined to have that fling with Moth. And while he doesn’t succeed this first night, he does promises ~flirty messages~ for Moth in his DMs after tonight. Can’t wait to see those, because it’s definitely happening since Moth hasn’t blocked Dean yet. The two of them start looking at each other’s Instagram profiles and while neither one of their profiles are really that interesting, I’d be inclined to give them a lot of grace and leeway if they looked as how as William and Est. Because you can’t be serious with Moth’s artwork.
Moth still hasn’t blocked Dean the next day, partially because Punn has called to tell him that he’s throwing a birthday party for him two days early since he always goes full introvert on his birthday. Which unfortunately just reminds me of that Twitter meme that I can’t find right now but it’s that one where the introvert is walking into a room full of jocks while he tells everyone that it’s time for him to be an introvert.
During the birthday dinner, Punn tries to be subtle hinting about Moth finding a partner, but Moth insists that it’s not happening. He opens up Punn’s hole gift for him, which is a nice wallet, and then Punn wishes him luck in love and it’s awkward. Moth calls Dean to tell him to book a table at the club for the two of them and Punn, and Dean tells Moth that it’s going to be a table for four since he’s going to bring Ten. This is going to be a mess.
