Ron Watches You Maniac Episode 5

Not to jinx things, but I might just be able to catch up by this Saturday. That’s the hope!

The episode starts not with Moth and Dean’s meetup a week later, but with Moth waking up in Punn’s car. Turns out Moth got plastered, and Punn’s there to the rescue. He’s asking Moth if he can stay over at his place, while also trying to get him to admit that he’s in love with Dean. Which Moth sorta does, when he says that it doesn’t matter anymore since the two of them are over.

We then go back to the week of their ~reunion~, where Dean makes it look that he’s moved on by putting his arm around a client. But then he starts flirting with Moth again, and I hope there’s an explanation for this behavior later on in this series. They’ve already hinted at it in the previous episode when Dean’s sister told him that their parents just want their old son back. However, Moth is still prickly about their situation and jabs at Dean with a ~you’ve already slept with everyone~ barb. Dean’s a little offended by it, but can you blame Moth, or the audience? I don’t think the audience needs to be told everything about a character, but what we’ve been told about Dean is that he has slept with everyone. The show only ever says otherwise when it’s time to push Moth to change. Why can’t both of them change and compromise?

At least, this time around it’s Dean who’s apologizing. Moth wants him to apologize a little more, sure, but I’m appreciating the effort on Dean’s part. And I guess so does Moth, because they end up in bed together! And not just to make out, apparently, holes have been entered! And then we got a cutesy montage of them having fun and also a product placement shot of the body lotion that’s apparently sponsored this episode and the previous one. They rub the lotion on their skin!

And the montage eventually circles back to that scene from episode one! I like that! Now we move forward in the story, as it seems like Punn and Moth have started to drift apart. No surprise! Especially when Dean and Moth talk about a possible future running a bar together. Moth’s being prickly about it, but by this point, I think the audience knows he’s contemplating it.

We then see that Ten and Punn have sorta progressed in their relationship, as they now regularly talk online. Punn still hasn’t seen what Ten looks like, so that’s going to be a problem, but they’re the secondary couple here, so I’m not worrying about it too much. Dean then walks in with a product placement and tells Ten that it’s time for him to reveal himself to Punn or give up on him. I think it’s valid!

The talk sorta works on Ten, who asks Dean to get him tickets to a blind date event Dean did some publicity for. The idea is for Ten to finally sorta talk to Punn face-to-face, and if they hit it off there, then that’s a happy outcome. Moth talks to Punn about it, but Punn has to guilt him about always hanging out with Dean first, despite Moth’s declarations of it not being serious. Unfortunately for Punn, Moth ends up saying that he’s just looking for some romance, and Dean — not Punn — is the choice he’s made. Moth uses that to his advantage, though, by dangling the blind date event as a place where maybe Punn can show off his romantic chops.

On the day of the blind date event, Dean is blindsided by the fact that Moth is taking part in the event as well. Of course, Dean has to be at the event now, and they have a little combative flirting while having a solihiya barrier separating them.

Meanwhile, Ten and Punn finally have their “face-to-face”, and I don’t know if bringing up Punn’s crush on Moth was a good idea, but Ten does it anyway. And you know what, I’m in the wrong, because it turns out Punn is over Moth now and is ready for something new. Ten, babe, it’s your time to shine! Unfortunately, Ten fumbles it. You’ve got no one else to blame but yourself, Ten.

There’s a second round to the blind date event, and this time around Dean and Moth are on the same side, while Ten and Punn are both on the opposite side. Both Moth and Punn immediately recognize Dean and Ten when they’re paired up, and it’s an illuminating experience for Dean and Ten. Ten gets told point-blank by Moth that Punn isn’t going to like him, while Punn warns Dean that he and Moth aren’t aware of how much they’re hurting each other.

The final part of the blind date event is them ranking the people they’ve talked with. Ten doesn’t pick anyone because he’s afraid of finding out that he doesn’t match with Punn, which is a choice I understand but don’t necessarily agree with. Fortune favors the bold, Ten. And wouldn’t you know it, Dean and Moth match, but not before Dean sees the results beforehand and sees that nobody else ranked him first other than Moth, while everybody else wanted to match with Moth.
