I thought I would be able to catch up last night, but getting through the previous episode was not as quick as I thought it was going to be. Let’s see if I can finally catch up today.
The previous episode has Ten and Punn finally agreeing to date each other, and Dean taking that giant leap and asking Moth if he’d like to be monogamous. Will these giant leaps be worth it? Let’s find out in this episode!
There’s no flashback at the start of this episode, but we do see a blast from Moth’s past. Moth asks Dean to repeat what he just said, but Dean interprets that as a no and starts to walk away. Mes, a guy from Moth’s past, swoops in and hugs Moth right in front of Dean’s salad.
Also, Moth & Mes? MothMes? Come on. It’s too much!
Moth introduces Dean to Mes as his friend, and you truly cannot blame him for that because that’s what you’ve been calling each other when introducing yourselves to people. The two of you set that system up! Moth also invites Mes up to his place, which of course, has Dean fuming and following them as they go up. He almost knocks on the door but gets a hold of himself.
Inside Moth’s apartment, Moth is giving back a book that I guess he borrowed from Mes back when they were in university. Mes came from New York and is staying in Bangkok for a while because a gallery is exhibiting his work, and he’s asking Moth to visit, together with a squeeze of Moth’s ~veiny~ forearms.
Meanwhile, Dean is waiting outside the building like a creeper, and only actually goes home when he sees Mes leave as well. Once he’s back at home, Dean rakes a look at Mes’ social media, and he starts feeling inadequate. Not surprising!
Elsewhere in the city, Ten and Punn are on their first date and Ten is prepared because Punn is his first boyfriend, and I’m like…boyfriend? He just agreed to go on a date with you; that doesn’t mean you’re boyfriends! But looks like Punn is fine with them being boyfriends, so I’ll just shut my trap.
However, Ten and Punn’s first date is cut short by Moth, who’s called Punn to meet up because Mes has returned. And to be fair to Punn, he was prepared to say no to Moth, but it looks like Mes is a big deal in their shared history.
Turns out, Mes is the guy that Moth still hasn’t gotten over. While Moth is digesting that, Punn nonchalantly drops a bombshell by telling Moth that he’s now dating Ten. At least Moth is happy about it, and doesn’t tell Punn that he told Ten that Punn wouldn’t like him. Punn also tells Moth that he’d rather not hear about this Mes business anymore, which is intriguing to me. Why not?
Unfortunately for Punn, the universe won’t leave him alone, because Dean tags along with Punn and Ten’s next date, and he wants the 411 on Mes. Mes is Moth’s first love, and the one who told him to just follow his feelings. Unfortunately for Moth, the one time he followed his feelings, Mes shot him down, which led to him becoming the unfeeling ~maniac~ we met in episode one who blocked anyone interested in him. It also led to Moth becoming insecure about himself, and Dean gives Punn the right response when he asks if there really is anyone who makes Moth not feel good enough.
Mes definitely isn’t making Moth feel inferior now, as he calls him late at night to try to stir up old emotions. The phone call lasts so long that Dean can’t even call to ask Moth about what he’s doing. And he called a lot. Twenty missed calls!
This whole thing with Mes is definitely driving Dean crazy because he’s back at Moth’s place asking why his phone was so busy tonight. Babe, the two of you are just ~friends~! And just like your sister said, you snooze, you lose! It also doesn’t help that Dean can’t just say that he’s jealous about Mes and is pussyfooting around the whole thing. When he finally asks Moth what’s the real status between the two of them, Moth understandably answers that he doesn’t know either. It’s not like Dean has been calling him a boyfriend or anything.
Ten and Punn are having a better night, as Ten brings Punn to his place and he doggie-styles him and shows him his dog. Conveniently, the lights are out at his place because of a blown transformer, and Punn isn’t leaving despite Ten giving him the option to do so. A bussy is going to get wrecked tonight. Especially when Punn tells Ten that he doesn’t want to perpetuate the cycle of him pining over Moth? What are you waiting for Ten, suck that man’s cock! And maybe it sorta happens? It’s implied, at least, after a humorous conversation between Ten and Punn.
The next day, Dean wakes up with a hangover after getting plastered the night before, for obvious reasons. And apparently, he was whining at the bar about why he’s not good enough for Moth, which is kinda cute. At least for me. Dean also makes the questionable decision of going to Mes’ art exhibit and getting drunk again on the way to the exhibit.
Moth hasn’t seen Dean at the exhibit just yet, but I don’t think he would have changed his interaction with Mes even if he did see Dean there. He praises Mes’ work, which is fair, and admits that he hasn’t felt anything in a long time when he paints. Mes knows exactly what to say when it comes to Moth’s insecurities, and I can understand why Moth fell for him before.
It’s only after that interaction that Moth sees Dean watching him like a creeper, and Dean doesn’t handle this confrontation well at all, because he throws Moth’s lovesick expression in his face and basically calls him a simp for Mes. He also sarcastically calls Moth his “friend”, which I really don’t get because don’t the two of you call each other friends? Neither one of you objected to that designation, so I’m not understanding all this resentment.
Things boil over when Mes and Dean have a snark-filled conversation, and Moth finally pulls Dean aside and confronts him about his drunken behavior. Moth has had enough, and when Dean threatens to attend the party that Mes is throwing later that night, Moth tells him that he’ll hate him forever if he attends.
The party happens, and I thought that Mes would introduce his boyfriend to Moth, showing that Dean was jealous over nothing, but he introduces Moth to an artsy person instead, who, of course, looks down on Moth’s commercial work. Mes doesn’t even stick with Moth and leaves him alone after that soul-crushing critique. Mes doesn’t make things any better when they meet up again later on in the party, as he denigrates Moth’s current work. Good thing Dean calls to apologize to Moth, so now Moth has somewhere else to be rather than with these snobs.
Dean and Moth meet up, with Dean bringing a product placement with him. Moth admits that maybe Mes and the people he’s with aren’t the best people to hang out with, but that he also doesn’t know who he is right now. He thought he was one of the people that Mes hangs out with, but maybe that’s not true anymore. He does know that he likes being with Dean, right now, in this moment. And maybe that’s who he really is.
If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
