I was supposed to watch this right as it aired on Sunday, but you know what I found out? It premieres way too late in the night on Wowpresentesplus and I guess I can’t stay up that long anymore. And then Monday was packed with work. But moving forward, I’ll just do this every Monday.
As the queens file back into the Werk Room after Joan’s elimination, Liak says he’s feeling great. He doesn’t know if he’s going to be in the bottom again this episode, but he says he’s now got the hang of it. Usually a portent of elimination, but let’s see.
After they all congratulate Alma for winning in the previous episode, all the attention turns to Sorny, who was the only one of the queens to vote for Liak to be in the bottom. He says he knew Joan was going to be one of the queens in the bottom for sure, and since he wanted to save Coco from the bottom, he voted for Liak instead. It makes sense to him, but the queens are confused and so am I.
The next day, they do this whole passing of the crown thing as they enter the Werk Room and okay, kinda cute, but I just wish we all went back to the olden days when the queens just filed into the Werk Room the next day without having to do a skit. I’m saying this about all the editions. The group starts discussing what the next possible challenge could be, and I live for Vanessa asking Liz if she’s going to have her dick out, again, for the next challenge.
Supremme enters the Werk Room and there’s not going to be a mini challenge this week, as she immediately tells the queens that it’s going to be the girl group challenge this week and they’re going to have to write, sing, and choreograph their performances.
Alma de Soul is named one of the team captains since she won the last episode, and then she’s asked to pick who her rival is going to be. First time I’ve seen a franchise do this! Alma picks Maitetxu, and then Supremme tells Maitetxu to send a queen she doesn’t want to work with to Alma’s team. Oh bitch. The opposing queens are going to be the ones to choose their rival’s teammates. This is going to be messy and I can’t wait to see how this turns out.
In the end, Alma ends up with Liz, Vanessa, Liak, and Coco, while Maitetxu ends up with Marcus, Kim, Sorny, and Buba. They should definitely do this in the other franchises as well, because this is messy.
Once the groups are formed, Maitetxu says she got the people that she wanted, but maybe she should rethink that because what her team wants isn’t necessarily what she wants, and that’s going to cause friction. Maitetxu wants to pick the song with the less intense beat since she isn’t exactly a dancer, but msot of her team really want that song. And to Maitetxu’s credit, she sees that the group really wants it and concedes.
Meanwhile, friction is starting to happen over at Alma’s group, as Vanessa is slowly trying to take over the group. It’s the complete opposite of Maitetxu’s group, where Maitetxu keeps bringing up how much faith she has in her teammates. Looks like a clear picture of who’s going to be in the bottom is being set up.
The set up continues up to the recording, where Maitetxu’s group has an okay time on the mic, while Alma’s group hasn’t even finished writing the lyrics yet. Production is either telegraphing really hard that Alma’s group is going to be in the bottom, or this is going to be a fake out and it’s Maitetxu’s group that’s going to crash and burn.
But it really is starting to look like it’s Alma’s team that’s going to be on the chopping block, as they do not get any better during the dance rehearsals. It’s especially obvious when they’re compared to Maitetxu’s group, which looks like it’s moving along like a well-oiled machine.
Back in the Werk Room, the queens are throwing some light shade when Alma goes for the jugular and says that Maitetxu’s team didn’t have a leader, which I think would sting to anyone hearing it. Good thing Maitetxu is fine with it, and Buba gets a good jab in at Alma’s group by asking how it felt having to go through night two of A Night of a Thousand Vanessa Artiles.
As they prepare for the performance, Coco shares her story of being homeless during her second day in Spain. Sorny, her longtime friend, didn’t even know that Coco went through this. I also really empathized when Coco said in her confessional that she wouldn’t have come to Spain if she knew that was what was waiting for her, because I don’t think people would want to take themselves away from everything they’ve ever known if they had a choice.
Over at Vanessa’s side of the Werk Room, she’s consulting her…tarot cards? I don’t think they’re tarot cards, but I could be wrong. She’s reading the cards, and of course, things are looking up for her team and not for Maitetxu’s team. It would be much more interesting if she sees ~doom~ for her team and tries to turn things around. In the confessionals, she says she said all that to give her group some confidence…or did she? DUN DUN DUN.
Now if we want some really witch vibes, let’s check out GFriend’s “Apple”!
Alma’s group performs first and it looks like they were worried for nothing. I think they did well! Which can only mean one thing — Maitetxu’s group is going to crash and burn. There has to be a winner and a loser, after all.
BUT! Maitetxu’s group also kills it. I think they performed better than Alma’s group, although I do have to admit that there were moments there were Maitetxu looked a little lost. They might not be judged as teams this time around, but individually, just so Maitetxu can be sent to the bottom.
We then go to the runway, where the theme is CMYK, as in the colors from a printer, which is think is genius. And Sorny gluing an actual printer on her head? Hilarious. And Liz Dust is once again flashing her privates. Vanessa was right to call her out earlier in the episode! It’s getting a little predictable and boring.
Just as I predicted, Supremme tells the queens that they’re going to be judged individually this time around. Marcus, Vanessa, Alma, and Coco are declared safe, and I can already see Maitetxu heading to the bottom. And boy do the judges go in on her. They didn’t like her performance, or her outfit. Definitely lip syncing later, unless the queens save her during the vote. Probably joining her in the bottom are Liak and Liz. Liak being in the bottom might just mean Maitetxu gets to live another day because there hasn’t been an episode where Liak has even been safe, I believe. BUT! Liz might just pull a Ben De La Creme because she’s telling everyone in the Werk Room that maybe the competition just isn’t for her.
The queens go back to the Main Stage, and its Sorny who wins the challenge! She’s so happy about it that she even promises part of the prize money to Buba for coming up with the choreography that the whole team could follow. The queens are then tasked to pick which one to save between Maitetxu, Liak, and Liz, and the queens unanimously vote for Maitetxu.
The lip sync starts and there are scissors and water bottles? Honestly, Liz camping it up felt more awkward than funny to me, but I don’t think the production is going to keep Liak around after yet another bottom placement. And once again, the production told me to fuck off, because it’s Liz that gets sent home!
