Ron Watches RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 11 Episode 2

I was supposed to watch this Saturday morning, but I had work last Saturday, so by the time I was done with that, I was too tired to do anything more. I thought I could do it on Sunday, but I am an old person and I just had various body aches and pains and just let myself rot in the bed. But I’m hoping and pushing that I can finish doing this now!

At the end of the last episode, Morgan McMichaels was in the lead with three points, Dawn in second place with two, and the rest with big fat zeroes on the scoreboard. But that may change in a bit as the bottom queens are about to give away their points!

Of course, before that happens, we get to see Dawn celebrate her first-ever win in a Drag Race challenge, as well as for Morgan to enjoy her current frontrunner status. I think it’s well-deserved for both these queens! But let’s see if their frontrunner status stays until the third episode.

Now that the congratulations are out of the way, we get into the points of it all. Mystique builds up Lucky’s confidence, and Morgan believes it’s so she can get some points from Lucky in return. Meanwhile, Morphine is expecting some points from Lucky as well, because of their so-called alliance from the first episode. That alliance is pretty shaky, is all I’m going to say.

And would you look at that, Lucky says she’s not really into the whole alliances things, and she’s going to give her point to someone who made her feel welcome, which is Mystique. Akeria gives her point to Morphine, Mystique gives it to Lucky, and then Morphine gives her point to Akeria. She’s a little pissed about Lucky giving her point to Mystique, but I think she should have expected that after she was shading Lucky throughout the first episode.

The next day, Morgan is unsurprisingly cautious about her frontrunner status, because it does put a target on her back, and she honestly can’t expect to get more points from the other queens at this point. Morphine is also still smarting from the Lucky snub, but Lucky does have a valid point. Why should she give a point to the girl who’s been shady towards her?

But that’s something to talk about later because Ru enters the Werk Room to tell them of today’s mini challenge: wiggling into a pair of grandma panties. That’s a Filipino parlor game, bitch! The queens do it, but it’s not as funny as when we do it here, to be honest. Anyways, nobody wins, but everybody does get $500.

Ru then tells them that it’s going to be a design challenge this week for the Maxi Challenge. They’re going to use materials representing different types of queer bars, and then make ~couture~ out of it. Morgan gets to choose first since she won in the first episode, and she picks the leather bar. Akeria picks the White Party, Mystique chooses Country Western, and then Dawn picks the piano bar, which was what Morphine wanted. I laughed the evil duck laugh.

Anyways, Morphine gets the tropical bar, while Lucky gets the kitschy bar. Let’s see how things turn out for everyone!

Morgan reminds everyone that she won the design challenge on the first episode of season two, which, to be fair, she really did deserve to win. But she also correctly points out that expectations when it comes to design challenges are so much higher now, thanks to queens like Nymphia, Plastique, Rajah, and Gottmik. But she’s still in a better spot than Mystique, who is already pleading with Akeria to help her out with her outfit.

Akeria has troubles of her own as well. While she can sew and has made amazing pieces in previous competitions, she did those pieces on her own time. The pressure cooker of Drag Race and doing all of this in the Werk Room? Not her creative process at all.

When Ru and Raven arrive for the walkthrough, I find out that Dawn and Akeria brought their own dress forms. How’d they manage to get that on the plane? Did they have it delivered ahead of time? Also, based on the Werk Room, it looks like Morgan and Mystique may have to fight on Untucked again, because Ru was not impressed. Good thing no one’s going home…yet.

Akeria is also having trouble getting started on her outfit and is even helping the other girls because nothing’s clicking for her just yet. Lucky and Dawn, on the other hand, are having a battle of the headpieces. Looks like it’s going to be an interesting runway!

On the day of the runway show, the queens have a good discussion about the state of queer bars in America. Or at least, the start of a discussion, because it soon moves to the points and how Morgan doesn’t vibe with people writing an essay just to explain who they’re giving their points to.

The runway show starts, and it’s a very strong start because that outfit on Dawn is gorgeous. And then it’s followed by Akeria’s outfit? Oh, the queens coming after them are going to need to work. And Mystique is up next. Oh my. To be fair, the outfit is an improvement over her previous country Western look back in season two, but it pales in comparison to Dawn and Akeria’s work. Morgan actually came out with something nice, and Morphine…well, it was tropical! Lucky’s look, while not to my taste, is so kitsch and I think is the only one that has a chance against Dawn and Akeria’s looks.

The judges also love Dawn and Akeria’s looks, and I don’t blame them! I also loved that the queens she helped out shouted her out, because it really is impressive how Akeria made her outfit and helped other queens out! Lucky also gets shouted out by the judges, with Morphine and Mystique being the sorta bottoms of the episode.

Dawn and Akeria are named the top queens of the episode, putting Dawn in the front of the pack, for now. It’s going to depend on the lip sync! And, once again, it is a bouncy butt that causes Dawn to lose the lip sync. Akeria takes the extra point, and now the two of them are tied in first place!
