Ron Does Stuff

So, the original plan with this was to catch up with the rest of the world and eventually watch the ending alongside everybody else. And, well, that didn’t happen. But I’ll finish watching this nonetheless!

At the end of the last episode, Barth and Tanrak were caught sleeping beside each other in the church/school’s abandoned pool, and the ominous background music made it sound like they’d done some heinous stuff. They haven’t! At least, not yet. I am expecting more homosexuality down the line.

This time around, we open with a passage from Luke. Okay, so maybe I should look at these like the Interview with the Vampire show titles. We then open to Barth and Tanrak being told off by the priest. I’m sorry, but I might still be carrying Catholic trauma because when the priest started telling them that they should have told him I immediately rolled my eyes. Barth kinda gets off easy, since the priest focuses on Tanrak instead, since he’s the good boy.

The next scene is Barth writing lines as punishment, and he’s sorta consoled by Phak, who urges him to make friends while he’s here since he’s going to be here for a year at least. I mention this character’s name because Barth is looking at him a certain way, and the camera focuses on him a certain way, so let’s see where his storyline is going to go.

Or maybe it’s not going anywhere! Because during lunch, Tanrak asks Barth to sit with him and his friend Kongdech tries to be funny and make Barth think he doesn’t want them sitting together. It’s a good thing Barth has a sense of humor and jokes back. And there’s a little bit of ~squirting~ at Tanrak too while they’re washing dishes.

But Tanrak is more concerned about ensuring that Barth stays in school, because it looks like he doesn’t notice that Barth is trying to get into his pants. Barth moves seats so the two of them are together, tries to get into the same work group for Christmas, and Tanrak just tells him he’ll get more friends once he works with other people. Tanrak, baby, you’re not picking up what Barth’s putting down. Although from the looks of it, Barth likes a challenge.

Barth gets to exercise his charm when Tanrak starts tutoring him on cathecism, and over the course of one tutoring session Barth manages to get the two of them a little closer. I actually thought the discussion they had on lust would go on a little longer, but I’m still okay with the way the went about getting Barth and Tanrak closer together emotionally. Barth ~scamming~ his way into choir but also having the talent to back it up? Again, the Swedish homosexual teenagers of it all.

We also find out that Tanrak’s a Marian devotee, while Barth finds out why Catholicism is such an important part of Tanrak’s life. Despite his tense relationship with Catholicism, Barth offers to come with Tanrak whenever Tanrak wants to visit the Marian image that his mother prayed to before giving birth to him.

However, it’s not all smooth sailing. While Barth and Tanrak are getting close, Kongdech is letting his gossipy classmates make him feel insecure about his friendship with Tanrak. There’s also Tanrak’s female childhood friends talking about the parts of Tanrak’s pasy disappearing, which I feel will come in to play later on.

But Barth is persistent and even convinces Tanrak thst the two of them could play a self-composed song, which segues beautifully to a montage of them getting closer and closer together as time passes. They’ve become close enough that Barth makes his big move and goes to Tanrak’s bed while Tanrak’s reading the Bible. Unfortunately, the get caught by Phak so now they’re being punished by being sent to the cemetery to write down all the names of the saints there.

Of course, now that they’re outside, Barth really leans into his bad boy role, first convincing Tanrak to not take the punishment seriously, and then to help him sneak out. While all of this is happening, their earlier conversation about lust comes back to haunt Tanrak. He’s beginning to realize that he ~desires~ Barth and it is so delicious. And then we get close-ups like this and ominous music? Delicious.

Then they pee right beside each other and I mean. As Trixie Mattel would say, I think that was a flirtatious advance. And then Tanrak touches himself while remembering what Barth looked like peeing? Oh this is going to turn into a piss kink for sure. And then, it looks like Barth was watching him jack off? Or at least that’s how I interpreted the scene.

The episode ends with Tanrak locking himself in a toilet stall after experiencing what I’d call a little breakdown as he processes his feelings. What’s he doing inside that stall? Oh, if my Catholic childhood is anything to go by, it’s not something the Church would approve of.
