Ron Does Stuff

Am I actually watching the new episode on the day it airs? Would you look at that!

The shaman that Dera worked with met a grisly end at the end of the previous episode, and so did most of the people in Higashi village. Yuru’s childhood friend Danji has been sent down the mountain and into the city to look for Yuru, but will he be able to find him?

Danji might not find it difficult to find him now, as Yuru, Ken, and Right and Left have left their hideout to ~safely practice~. Hana shares all she knows with Dera, which really isn’t any help since she doesn’t know much about what happened to the shaman. She does tell him about the message carved onto the shaman’s body, which I didn’t think she would do at the end of the last episode.

Yuru, Ken, and Right and Left, on the other hand, are still walking around town and looking for someplace to shoot their arrows. Ken is also having a mini-breakdown as he realizes that neither Dera nor Hana have taken the time to explain to Yuru that things are very different in the city compared to Higashi village. You can’t just kill someone willy-nilly, for instance! But lessons in contemporary law are going to have to wait as Right has sensed a Daemon nearby. Is it Danji with Oshirasama?

It is not Danji and Oshirasama, but it doesn’t look like they’re hostile either! They’re a pair of forgotten Daemons who, by sheer happenstance, ended up having a dog for their master. Imagine that! And they’re just looking for friends! They’re lucky, because not only do they meet Right and Left, they also meet Oshirasama, who drops in on this meeting along with Danji.

This is where the comedy part of the episode ends, as Danji relates what happened to the village. We also find out that Danji is actually a Daemon, thanks to Yuru observing that he doesn’t cast a shadow, like all the other Daemons he’s met. And Yuru isn’t happy that Danji has been lying to him as well.

While that meeting is happening, Dera and Jin from the Kagemori clan are also having one. Jin apologizes for Asuma tailing them a few episodes ago, while Dera tells Jin that he’s going to help him find out who these new people are attacking Higashi village.

Back to Yuru, he finds out that the fake Asa and Danji are actually a pair called Zashiki-Warashi, who apparently will leave a household if it falls into chaos. And boy has Higashi village fallen into chaos. Turns out he was tasked by his master — his “mom” named Kyoka — to watch over Yuru, while his partner was tasked to watched over the grandmother. The reveal that there is yet another Daemon wielder in the village pisses Yuru off, and he asks everyone to leave him alone so he can spend time in the mountains.
