Ron Does Stuff

I was supposed to watch this yesterday, but again, I live in late-stage capitalism, and I need to earn money first to even survive. But here I am now!

No one went home in the previous episode, so of course everyone is happy. Or at least, most of them are happy, because Elektra and Eva both reveal that they would have sent Desirée home if it wasn’t a double save. I also think that it’s going to result in a double elimination down the line, because that’s how it’s always been. But maybe I’ll be proven wrong!

The next day, after congratulating Elektra and Desirée teaching the queens “dog sucking on a mango” in Portuguese, the queens are told that they’re playing a Grindr-sponsored mini challenge, and it’s basically one of those superlatives things that allows for a little playful shade to be brought up. Mariana and Desirée win and get MXP9,000 afterwards.

The queens are then told that this is going to be the talent show episode, and then walk the runway in outfits representing their hometowns. As the queens prepare for that, Barbie Q opens up to Matraka about how difficult it was for her to come out of the closet in Bolivia. And since they’re having Barbie Q tell her story now, I jsut know she’s marked for the bottom this episode. I do find it interesting that both Barbie and Matraka are in political families, which made things more difficult for both of them.

Suprise twist! At least for me. I thought we were going to start off with the talent show, but they begin with the runway, and the ones I liked were Abby, Barbie, Regina, Elektra, and Mariana Star’s. Sorry, I like those Miss Universe-type national costume outfits!

The talent show starts and I gotta ask — was this filmed in the Philippines? Because those backup dancers looked very Filipino to me! Then we get to Desirée’s talent show and since I already have it in my head that this was filmed in the Philippines, I couldn’t help but think of the Andok’s chicken mascot.

Barbie Q performs after Desirée and…well, maybe she should have been a politician after all. It doesn’t help that she’s followed by Horacio, who does a good song and dance number. Alexis’ performance would have been mid as well, but Barbie Q’s was just that meh that I thought Alexis would still be safe.

Honestly, there really weren’t any standout performances for me, but I think that’s mostly due to the fact that queens are given so little time to perform. But then again, Anetra did what she did with the time that she got, so I might be trying to make excuses for the queens.

Desirée, Horacio, Alexis, Matraka, and Xunami are the safe queens this week, and judging from the critiques, the bottom queens are Barbie and Eva. The panel eventually announces Abby and Regina as the top queens of the week, who now have to pick between Mariana and Barbie. I really thought it would be Eva in the bottom two, to be honest. But her act was different from everyone else’s, so I guess that saved her.

After the requisite pleading and begging before the top queens, the lip sync starts and I honestly couldn’t determine who was leading between Abby and Regina. The judges pick Regina, so they really wanted Barbie Q to go home. She’s a Pork Chop, yet again.
