Ron Does Stuff

It finally happened. I’ve been behind on a lot of the shows I’ve been watching except this one, but the previous week was busy enough that I missed even this one. But I’m catching up!

At the end of the previous episode, it looked like something bad was about to happen to Left. Will we find out what it is exactly in this episode? Let’s get into it!

Good news first. Thanks to Yuru’s arrows, Ivan doesn’t get to kill Left just yet. Bad news is that Ivan manages to get away because his Daemon swords can deflect even the bullets from Dera’s sniper rifle. Even managed to graze Yuru with one of the bullets they deflected!

Meanwhile, Shingo has managed to hold down the bandit that came to his location back in episode 18. And this is when Asuma finally makes his move. Fujin-Raijin have the bandit’s Daemons in their grip, so they can’t exactly come to Shingo’s aid. Yozakura also has Shingo’s head in his talons, so any move Fujin-Raijin makes means Shingo’s neck gets broken. Asuma is also perceptive enough to know that Shingo isn’t the final boss, and that he’s probably taking orders from someone.

It’s this pretty picture that Ivan returns to after escaping from Yuru and the gang. And you know what? You got to hand it to Ivan, because he dispatches Yozakura, Shingo, and Fujin-Raijin pretty quickly when he’s told that Gonzo, Asa, and Fuyuki are headed to where they are. This man is cold.

Yuru and the gang also come to this realization and resolve to be careful the next time they encounter Ivan. But that doesn’t mean they’re not going to go after him, because that’s still going to be happening, especially now that they know what his blood smells like. They’ll just have to ~recalibrate~ their strategy.

And strategy will definitely have to play a part in bringing down Ivan, as Asuma attacking him directly just got him wounded and bleeding. If it wasn’t for the backlash Ivan felt from the attack he did on Left in the previous episode, Asuma would be joining Shingo in the afterlife as well. Ivan escapes again, BUT we do find out that Yosakura survived Ivan’s attack! At least that’s one piece of good news for Asuma.

Back at the warehouse, Ivan’s…colleague?…Mineyama is getting rid of the bodies using what I can only describe as a dung beetle Daemon, and using the show’s running gag of worker exploitation in late-stage capitalism to convince the guard who saw everything happening that it’s just a hallucination. When the police finally arrive and asks him what happened, that poor security guard starts thinking if he actually went crazy.

Meanwhile, Mineyama has met up with Ivan and then tells him that seeing him in such a weak state turns her on. A woman of integrity, intelligence, and energy!

After briefly hyperventilating at the thought of Ivan probably passing out and her having to perform CPR on him, Mineyama lets the audience know about the existence of another hidden village: Nishino village.

We then get a little comedic scene after all of that, and I truly appreciate them because it allows the audience to breathe every once in a while.
