Ron Watches Daemons of the Shadow Realm Episode 9

This has been a busy week, and yesterday was a little bit ugh. Absolutely my fault, but I’m still allowed to feel bad about it, right? Anyway, this show has been good at lifting me up before, so I hope that it does its thing now, even if I’m late.

The previous episode ended with no reunion between Yuru and Asa, as well as Asuma looking like he’s spying on Yuru, even if Asa doesn’t want that. What’s going to happen now?

What’s happening is Dera is taking Yuru and Left and Right on a city tour and introducing them to the ~modern world~. First up is a ride on a ferry, and having grown up on a mountain his whole life, it’s no surprise that Yuru is ~amazed~. He’s constantly amazed by modern things in every episode. Train stations, ticket vending machines, the train itself, and a horse race complete the itinerary.

After that, Dera tells Yuru that he’ll buy him the necessities for life in the city, and all Yuru wants — that isn’t livestock — is material to make arrows. So your local hardware store it is! Or I think it’s a hardware store. Aside from the fish-out-of-water comedy, I laughed at the clerk being able to see Left and Right and then asking for a break because she’s hallucinating. Yes, girl, you’re being exploited by capitalism!

It’s also while shopping that Yuru realizes all the bandits that have been trying to kill him in Higashi village were from the city, because they were just too clean. And also because they were wearing boxer briefs and not loincloths. Yuru prefers loincloths, by the way!

Left and Right think the village sent the bandits to kill him so that he can acquire Seal, but he’s still not sold on Higashi village being out to get him and Asa. This is going to be Yuru’s next self-imposed mission — finding out who was trying to kill him when he was growing up.

Yuru and Dera are also aware that they’re being followed by three people, so an action scene might be happening further down the line! But that will have to wait, as we go back to Asa still happy over getting a picture of her brother. She’s edited out Dera from her pictures of her brother and is even asking for video clips of him from the compound’s CCTV. Okay. Jin hoping to track Dera using that is not gonna happen, but they still have the guys who attacked them in episodes five and six.

And those guys are willing to talk! The Kagemoris discover that the west gate of the compound was left open to let the assassins enter, but there is no west gate in the complex. BUT! They’re telling the truth, because the Kagemoris have Fuyuki, whose Daemons Whisper and Embrace make up the pair Blacklist, and can look into a Daemon wielder’s entire personal history. They’re left alive, for now, and even allowed to work for the Kagemoris. As for the still unidentified mastermind of the attack? It’s shoot to kill.

The two assassins, for the meantime, are chilling and cleaning up the mess they caused, and we get a little comedic interlude regarding Daemon names. But, of course, that doesn’t last for long. Somewhere inside the complex, someone is talking to a Nakagami-san, who looks like she’s associated with the mastermind of the attack. And that someone is HIKARU. Damn. But it looks like it’s a fakeout? He’s actually talking to his manga editor? I don’t know if they’re kidding or not!

After all that time with the Kagemoris, we’re back to Dera, Yuru, and Left and Right, who have just led their tails straight into a trap: the Tadera clan’s Lost House, which is a separate dimension that only Dera and the members of his clan know how to get out of. HOWEVER, even this dimension has been invaded by two Daemons Dera and their tails don’t know about. The two Daemons are collectively called Tenaga-Ashinaga, and it looks like it’s going to be a brawl between them and Left and Right.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
