By now, everybody’s seen this episode. Probably even the episode that came after this one. So just lemme catch up in peace, okay? Okay.
The previous episode further cemented Crystal’s status as this bracket’s frontrunner, with Silky in second place after defeating Crystal in the lip sync. This is the final episode of the bracket, so if any of the other queens have plans, it’s time to set them in motion.
Back in the Werk Room, Crystal is celebrating being the frontrunner, which would be worrisome if it weren’t for the fact that Ru loves her. She’s not in danger of being outscored anytime soon. Meanwhile, Salina is hoping that her alliances will push through, but she’s not intent on honoring those alliances anyway. It’s foreshadowing that she’ll be left hanging!
And it’s starts early, with Aura giving her point to Vivacious and not to Salina. Salina’s face.

And then her face after guilt-tripping Aura?

She’s already made this a successful comeback.
The next day, the queens are understandably gunning for Crystal, who now has no option but to win since none of the queens are going to be giving their points to her. But that scheming will have to wait as Ru enters the Werk Room to tell them that they have a mini challenge this week, and that is to fake slap each other. Not actualy slapping, which is what Ru did to Asia O’ Hara.
And I gotta say, the reads? Mostly meh, except the ones they had for Vivacious. Silky wins the mini challenge and wins $2,500, as well as tickets to see Stop that Train!. Lovely. Now that that’s out of the way, Ru tells them that it’s a makeover challenge this week! They’re making over a bunch of gay dads, two of whom are married to each other!
Since Silky won the mini challenge, she gets first pick of the daddies, and then gets to pair up the rest of them with the queens. She tries to handicap Crystal — valid! — and I think she was helping Vivacious out, since Vivacious herself admits to not having any experience with makeovers.
Once the queens sit down with their daddies, it becomes really obvious that Silky has definitely hobbled Crystal, as the daddy admits that he doesn’t get Crystal’s drag style. But it also looks like Silky has hobbled herself, because now that she’s chosen ~a challenge~, she’s having some difficulty thinking of what to do, before landing on just making her assigned daddy look like a pageant queen. Meanwhile, both Vivacious and April are cautiously optimistic about their chances. Also, Salina’s daddy is Pinoy! Would you look at that! Also, this is probably the most times I’ve heard pekpek in any show, even Filipino ones.
As the episode progresses, it looks like everybody else is getting along, other than Crystal and her assigned daddy. And it’s not so much that they don’t get along; it’s just that they have clashing aesthetics. But no one’s nasty to each other. Let’s see if it translates to a good makeover!
On the day of the runway walk, there’s still some last-minute stress for the queens. Silky, for instance, has to make a white dude look like a part of her family. Vivacious is already anticipating being “read the dog filth, eyes, tooth, and nails DNA” out of her, which is just so funny.
But things quickly get serious when the daddies talk about the challenges of being a gay dad. Aside from having to deal with gendered expectations, Silky’s assigned dad has the added misfortune of living in Florida, where he has to be even more careful because of some stupid Don’t Say Gay bill.
The runways finally start, and the looks are generally okay! I wasn’t a big fan of Silky’s, but it wasn’t horrible. And the performance of the daddies was actually nice! Usually, I just tune it out when the makeover subjects are asked to perform, but I actually paid attention this time around!
We get to the judges’ critiques, and as always, Michelle has the ~hot takes~ on the looks. Although I do kinda see her point with Crystal’s makeover. But all in all, everyone got really positive comments! However, Ru ultimately decides that it’s Vivacious and Salina. Vivacious finally gets a win!
But while that’s happening, the show reveals that Silky has been moving in the shadows, forging an alliance with Aura so that they swap points with each other. While that is going on, Vivacious and Salina battle it out for the extra point. And while it’s true that Vivacious doesn’t know the words to the song, given how that artist has been acting, I think what Vivacious did was actually an act of protest.
Salina wins the lip sync and then gets decimated with the handing out of points, as all of the alliances she’s cultivated end up not giving her any points. Silky and Crystal move forward. The evil duck laugh I let out.
