Ron Does Stuff

Do I really need to say anything more? Still catching up, and boy do I need to catch up because I am like two episodes behind.

Holly White was sent packing in the previous episode, and the number of queens really is getting smaller and smaller. Azémylia is really broken up about sending Holly home, and was even crying during her confessional. BUT, the mirror message crying also revealed the ~alliance~ between Sublyme, Azémylia, and Holly. How that would change things, however, isn’t clear to me. This isn’t All Stars! Anyways, as we go into the opening billboard of the show, Sublyme says that it’s her time to win, which of course just telegraphs to me that she’s the one going home in this episode.

The next day, Fluff is at least upfront about her thinking that Sublyme, Azémylia, and Holly, to which Azémylia counters that Lana and Fluffy have an alliance of their own. Lana says she’s ready for Lanarffy, leaving Daisy with ~no allies~. Honestly, what does it even matter since these alliances don’t mean squat when it comes to eliminations?

After Azémylia gets the Golden Baguette, Nicky enters the Werk Room and reveals to the queens that they’re going to do the girl group challenge this episode. BUT WAIT. Nicky says that’s not right; they’re going to do a group design challenge. BUT WAIT. What they’re actually going to do is a girl group challenge where they make their own outfits. This is this season’s equivalent of the Nicky phone from season three.

The fabric they’re going to be using is from Nicky’s “old outfits”, and Lanarffy gets most of it, so…Suzéda? tries to barter with Lanarffy for more material. Lanarffy isn’t budging though, so I don’t think anyone can expect Azémylia to hand them the Golden Baguette anytime soon. I’m wrong then; the alliances do matter because of the Golden Baguette.

There’s less drama when it comes to the song selection compared to the fabrics, as both groups had completely different tastes. Lanarffy looks like they’ve got their shit together, albeit in a really obnoxious way, and I don’t Suzéda for feeling like Lanarffy’s acting like assholes because they kinda are. BUT AT THE SAME TIME, Suzéda looks like they’re going to be a mess.

While they’re gearing up for the performance, we get our recommended daily allowance of ~this is the learning moment~ of the day as Lana talks about the less-than-ideal working environment he had to go through while working in the culinary industry. He experienced verbal and physical abuse, which…damn. I knew the culinary industry can be tough, but I thought that things had toned down since the time when Bourdain was a chef, but I guess it hasn’t. Lana’s confession leads to Fluffy sharing her own story of being abused at school and at home, so of course it’s waterworks and comforting hugs all around.

Now, before we get to anything else, can we talk about these moments in Drag Race France? All of it felt organic during the early years, and maybe it’s just me, but it’s now starting to feel rehearsed. These emotional moments have gotten so predictable that I can recognize them so easily, and I shouldn’t be able to, because I know that these stories from the queens are real.

Anyways, back to the episode! When we get to recording the song, Lanarffy aren’t exactly setting the mic on fire. Fluffy, in particular, is constantly losing her breath while recording. As for Suzéda, Daisy looks to be in trouble, so maybe she’s going to be in the bottom? By now, everybody already knows because I am several episodes behind.

When we get to choreography, this time around it’s La Harpie that looks to be in trouble at Lanarffy, while Daisy is once again the pain point over at Suzéda. Looks like she’ll be the one choosing who’s getting the Golden Baguette next!

We finally get to the Main Stage, and see the runway first, which features a pop culture theme. Unfortunately, I don’t get La Harpie and Lana Cotta’s references, so I can’t really say whether they were done well. Azémylia does Britney Spears, which I get, but I didn’t think she did a great job. BUT, Daisy does Madonna’s look from “Frozen”, which I love. But is it going to be enough to save her from what I think will be a bottom placement? Let’s wait and see!

Lanarffy is up first to perform and…well, let’s watch the Flexbomb Girls!

Suzéda has a better performance, so maybe Daisy was getting the unlikely winner edit rather than the elimination edit. But let’s wait and see what the judges have to say because they might think something completely different than me.

And it looks like the judges agree with me, because Lanarffy got the bulk of the negative critiques. If you’re being criticized for your lip sync and choreography? Practice that lip sync song now. Suzéda gets the better critiques, and it looks like the battle for the top will be between Sublyme and Daisy.

Turns out I was wrong, because no battle for the top placement happened as all the members of Suzéda are declared the winners for this episode. Congratulations! Azémylia then saves Lana, leaving Fluffy and La Harpie to lip sync for their lives. Personally, I think La Harpie is going home because they’ve got no storyline for her.

By the end of the lip sync, I thought they were evenly matched. And then surprise, surprise, it’ Fluffy who gets sent home. I thought it was La Harpie’s time to go!
