Ron Does Stuff

It looks like Asa was going to get into some trouble with Akio in the previous episode, and while I think we can reasonably expect her to survive this encounter, what’s interesting is how she’ll survive it. Let’s get into it!

We don’t immediately find out what happens to Asa, since we start out at the Shingo warehouses, where Gonzo, Fuyuki, and Natsuki are laying waste to Shingo’s property. But it turns out that it isn’t Natsuki there with Gonzo because it’s Asa. The one back at home is the angler fish thing Daemon controlled by Jin. Akio gets an arm bitten off, but he’s pretty stoic about it and even asks Jin how long he’s known that he’s the mole.

Turns out Jin suspected him as far back as episode four, because Yuru aimed directly at Akio’s head. As Jin points out, Yuru only kills people who try to kill him. Akio killing the leader of the guys who attacked the compound back in episode six made him even more suspicious, which is why he set this Asa trap now.

After those revelations, we finally get to see Akio’s Daemons, which are two huge eyes collectively called Mountain God. He initially seems to have an advantage, as his Daemons are too big for Jin’s Daemon to swallow, and too big for Haruo’s Daemons to really do anything. BUT, Gabby is there, which I totally forgot about!

Back at the warehouse, we find out why Gonzo has so many Daemons. His actual Daemons are Hyakki Yako, which makes every Daemon basically live harmoniously with each other and with their master — Gonzo. And Gonzo can take all of the Daemons of the people at the warehouse because Asa’s Break ability basically ~breaks~ the contracts they have with their original masters.

After all that, we finally get back to Yuru, who has decided to attack Shingo wherever they are right now. He’s also taken Shingo’s phone, but I don’t know what he’s going to do with it. The Ksagemori’s, however, will probably do a lot with that phone if Yuru hands it over.

We go back to the Kagemori complex, and it’s going to be a Daemon battle between Gabby and Akio, with Gabby at a disadvantage not because her Daemon is weaker, but because she’s been ordered not to kill Akio or his Daemon pair. But despite that handicap, Gabby looks like she’s winning this battle as her Daemon slowly chomps at Akio’s Daemons. They did say slow and steady wins the race! It also helps that Haruo has also joined the fight and is helping out Gabby as best he can.

Akio sorta gives up and frees his Daemons from their contract with him, and he’s even saved from death by chomping by Natsuki’s Daemons. He still won’t surrender though, which of course becomes his downfall as he ends up in the scrotum of Makoto’s Daemon. And his face as it happens. I wish I knew how to make screencaps off Netflix.

While they’re making progress over at the Kagemori complex, Yuru has lost his advantage over there at Shingo’s place because he didn’t account for Shingo’s Daemons. Now they’re basically back to square one.
